Anyone Using Unclaimed Fan Pages Successfully?

Hi All,

I'm having a really hard time calling these business owners. They are all but slammed the door in my face. I had one business that had not claimed their fan page but they have 3500 likes and they weren't interested in getting a custom landing page or anything... I don't understand how they are not interested when their fan pages are not optimized or even done...

Any advice to how you are getting the owners to understand that value would be appreciated.

    Hi Craig,

other than "optimizing a fan page," etc... what value can you offer them that they can readily/easily understand? people in this forum can understand the tech benefits of what you are offering, but does the prospect? you may be talking over their heads and they may not be spending any time or interest to understand what you're talking about.

    • I feel ya. Its maddening when you know you can help them but they could care less.

      That's what makes it fun!

It doesn't sound like they are utilizing the power of their 3500 fans. See if you can come up with an idea they can use that will make money. That will get their attention. Maybe work out a Halloween promotion. Or a Homecoming special. Or whatever fits their business.

They have no idea what optimizing their page means. But if you can tie it into a sales making promotion or idea, they should be all ears. That's what they understand.

If not, move on to the next one and try them again down the road.

Show them and prove to them that a business fan page can get them Leads. That's all most business care about ... LEADS!!.

BTW .. don't call it a fan page (they don't get it) ... call it their Facebook Business Page.

    Hope this helps.

I've found a lot of local businesses are scared of the amount of leads people like us can generate them. Some owners are happy with their current situation and don't want to branch out. I guess in their eyes it would cause more work then they're willing to put in.

    Craig,

I am curious. How do these businesses end up with Fan Pages in the first place if they are not interested in them?

There are different kinds of "fan" pages.
ONe kind is created by the biz and it is what most people think about when the term fanpage is used.
The other type is a places page which gets automatically created by Facebook.
Think of these like an unclaimed Google places page, most biz owners dont even know that it exists so they dont care too much about it. They need to be educated which often makes it a tougher sale. "What do you mean , I have this page already made for me FREE and now you want me to PAY you to optimize it, why would I want to do that?"
Many knowledgeable businesses have merged their places page with their regular fanpage.

Facebook places. As for 3500 fans that is impressive. Did you talk to him about claiming it and helping get those 3500 back in the seats more often?
