Good Google Places Courses.....Recommendations Please!

Warriors,

I have been working with a few offline clients for the past few months - doing mostly PPC work.

Want to move into Google Places Management - setting up and managing offline clients Google Places pages.

I have not really been keeping up with all of the WSO's / courses that have come and gone in the past few months on actually how to do the Google Places work.

And, that is what I am looking for....how to actually set-up and get my clients Google Places pages ranked well, etc.

I do not need how to find the clients lead generation recommendations - although, if you want to post them here feel free to do so for anybody that may need that info.

So, I am looking for suggestions and recommendations in this post.

Thanks up front for any assistance to help a fellow warrior out.

Thanks,
Austin

In all honesty, with all the resent major changes Google Places has gone through the past 6 months I doubt that you can find a WSO that is updated with the latest info, techniques, etc...I may be wrong but unless a WSO has come out within the last 2 weeks...I would not think of it as "complete and up to date"

I'd go to Google Places direct to get the latest info, updates and check their blog regularly to stay on top of every thing...everything you need to know is there...

I'd also sift through the pages of this offline forum....some solid gold info here on Google Places...

As with SEO techniques will come and go but there are basic things that will never change.

With Google Places the Google team put up a video about why they rank places pages the way they do.

The 3 ranking factors are Relevance, Distance & Prominance.

        Relevance to the search term.
Distance from where the search is being made.
Prominance is like the authority factor in SEO.

Work on those 3 and they will always work.

i got these notes from a website somewhere...

its basic stuff, google places is tedious work, just tedious, and there is no google places support. I've learned it, and WILL be outsourcing it once i know i can get results on my own.

But heres the basics... get them down, and then look for advanced ideas. stay white hat. also be sure to use geo-targeting with photosharing sites...

claim your listing, make sure you got keywords and description right, include website url, fill out the boxes, add as many photos and videos as you can, try to build as many citations and relevant local directory listings as you can, get reviews, update and maintain.

I agree here, however distance can be overcome if you think about it. I have clients listings in metro cities but we rank for the major city of the area. Just depends on how you set up your listing and site. Then its usually not a problem and minimal if zero offisite seo is needed.

    Austin,
Tim Castleman did a few videos on this a few months back on here. He gave out some solid info. You can search for the thread on here, but you'll probably find them faster on Youtube.

I like Brian Anderson's course. It's solid learning material for anyone who is looking for actual methods that work in the real world. ( not like other "theory" or rehashed WSO's)

I'm a realtor servicing one city but our office is in another city. How exactly do you overcome the distance factor?

I do have a Google places listing but it's not yet showing up for my search term. Good thing is nobody is else is still showing up so I just need to get there first. Any advice?
