Large Lead Generation Site?

I have several lead gen sites (eg, CityNamePlumber) and other large authority sites (eg, AuthoritySite.com).

Other Warriors have hundreds and even thousands of individual lead gen sites.

Is there such a thing as an authority lead gen site? I'm thinking of something like ServiceMagic but not quite like that.

If you had one big site with multiple categories wouldn't it be harder to rank each page rather than individual sites on the same topic? Know what I mean?:p

I don't know of anyone that is doing this, but I have had great success ranking multiple pages within one site in the same city. I tend to focus on ranking my home page but I don't think it is any more difficult to rank multiple inner pages on the same site. You just need to put in the required work and I am sure you can do it.

    Joe,

Not sure if this is what you're looking for or not (however it is similar to Service Magic), so you might want to check out Angie's List. They are available in both Canada and the U.S.

Here's the link to their website:

I can give you leads but generally the people that don't have the drive to generate their own leads don't have what it takes to get to closing their deals.

Lead generation companies know this fact so they will take the fee upfront and not the closing to protect their income stream.

So go get your own leads and control your destiny otherwise if you want them handed to you prepare to work really hard for a tenth of what you COULD make.

Good feedback- I appreciate it- just to clarify I am thinking of building one large lead gen site (rather than 1000 little ones), not employ a lead gen site. I just didn't know if anything like that already existed that I could look at.

I'd be selling leads and sponsorships. Hope that made more sense.

It's considerably easier to rank a small leads site that is very niche, rather than a general topic site with several "niches". Especially if you want to start generating leads any time soon...

i.e. if you want to start getting leads for mortgages, and also plumbers.. Build two different sites. You'll rank them much faster, you won't confuse your visitors, and you'll be able to target your leads better...

Now, if you want to focus on a MARKET, like home repairs, and you want to target several sub-categories (plumbers, roofers, etc), that would be ok to do as well, but I'd start with one niche within that market and build that, then expand.

Think about monster lead gen sites like http://LendingTree.com... BILLION dollar company... Focused on a single market - Lending. They built a brand. When they first began, their specialty was mortgage leads... they've now expanded, but it's taken a very very long time to get there.

I suppose short answer would be:
    1. Focus on a market
    2. Create a BRAND instead of a description-domain (best-city-plumber.com)
    3. Start with one sub-category within that market, then expand to become a market authority.

So what about passing the lead to the appropriate business. For instance you get a lead for unblocking a sink, what kind of system can be set up to actually pass this on and how do you establish a price.

In my city there are hundreds if not thousands of tradesmen, all with mobile phones that could possibly be interested in these leads.

If only I could work out how to take a generated lead and then somehow use SMS to pass these leads on. Maybe some kind of auction or closed bid type setup?

There are a lot of phone call tracking solutions in the US that help monitor this, I am sure similar service are available in the UK. You can also use web forms to accomplish this. Very common practice with Lead Gen. Don't know about SMS though.

YES, there is a such things as AUTHORITY site. There are at least 3 meanings:
    - The site has high page rank.
    - The way you generate leads brings authority to you.
    - The site architecture

All of these 3 make the site super powerful.

    For example:
Here is the direct answer for the person started the post:

Very interesting topic. I built the site like that. The site is for leads generation for practically any industry, any niche. It is a service for others to generate leads. I did not even launched it, and do zerro promotions. The site has rank 5.

Imagine you have started your leads generation not a brand new 0 rank site but on site with rank 5? Obvious leverage. Yes, I know, the inner pages of the site are not ranked as the home page. But, as my common sense tells me, it is much easier to move your inner page in rank if it sits on the awesome home page.

The answer is: yes, if you know exactly what you are doing, the site architecture, the correct scripts , security and so on, you can make it with a strong page rank.. Unfortunately, I have spent 3+ years. Man, avoid long projects if you can. It is a huge risk.

Now, I guess I have provided direct answer.
Here are side notes: At this moment I am looking for talents to provide education on the site, lead webinars and sell trainings. If any of you interested to jump in on a team wagon, and sell this leads generation platform, please connect with me. I have built in fantastic technologies, 100% commissions, and a bunch of tools for leads gen. Let me know if you want to joint forces. Thanks.

there are several with sites in the legal arena have practice area focused sites

The first 2 are heavy ppc

      total - totalbankruptcy.com -
      home - bankruptcyhome.com etc -

Then there's experthub network which has authority sites and is more seo oriented.

      disabilitysecrets.com - is a flagship authority sites.

      I think that's the top 3 in legal- legalmatch.com . legalfish.com, are some others.

        Joe,

I love the thought process. Since i am in the Niche Game with 100's of the sites you described... I don't sell leads i sell exclusive advertising... your on the right track... here is some thoughts...

We just started an Authority site in a very broad and lucrative niche...In fact it was my wife's brain child. Not in one million years would i have even dreamed of it and i highly doubt other IM'ers would either... However in doing keyword research on my end, I was able to find over 600 Phrases... all easy to rank for according to Traffic Travis based on competition with a minimum of 1000 searches each... Why am i saying this... WELL

We are using Wordpress with a Multiple Use Site... I think she has 23 sites wired in now with 4 more too go. Each site has 2 Kick butt SEO pressor Arcticles on it.... and the Rankings are going up fast not too mention the organic traffic already.... Its in the top 50k of sites in the U.S. and its less than a month old... All on page SEO - Next step after 30 days per site we are going to start dumping the Off page SEO onto the site to rank each keyword phrase...

The biggest thing i am finding here... Is the Authority it has... The terms over the last week are ranking way faster than the terms did the first week... Who knows but time is going to tell... For what your wanting to do I think you have a great concept... Wrap it up in a Wordpress MU site and I think you got a home run. The beauty is... Like most HUGE PROJECTS... Don't allocate more than 40% of your Daily activity to this site...

My Initial projects based on current adsense already and we will monetize 3 other ways... is in 6 months, this site should be getting over 1 Million Uniques a month with an adsense income close to 35k a month...

Don't know if this was what you were looking for but Hot Dam.. I say go for it my friend... the more we test MU sites the Better they look... we are researching 3 other niches now to start additional projects in....

        Hope this Helps...

        To Your Continued Success,
        Regards,
        Robert
