Teaching basic online marketing to mom and pops

I am considering of conducting a basic internet marketing class to mom and pops or even school going children. I want to know if anyone has done this before?

I would appreciate if you can share the rough ideas of your course contents to give me some basic ideas and the format to deliver my contents.

I am planning to teach how to create html website and wordpress websites and all the techie stuff that goes with it.

Is this a profitable idea?

I am in daytona, in daytona all the way to orlando i have witnessed
several middle to large sized seo companies try what you are talking about.

I even went to a few to see what my competition was doing.

And i am pretty friendly with two of those companies.

for these guys, in this area. it failed miserably, every time.

These were not fly by night, or one time tries, they were pretty well
    thought out and executed.

One company still does it, but no longer with the idea of teaching.
It has turned more into semi teaching, with turning the small bizz owners
into leads. Its a husband and wife team, and they have been "hosting"
a class once a month for a little over a year.... so it must be working for them.

but i don't have any real basis for that thought. it just a hunch

I have plans of conducting basic Internet marketing lessons with schools, community centers or any educational associations that can benefit this knowledge.

My plan of monetizing is by teaching them how to create simple websites or blogs and get them all to buy their hosting account and domain name via my hostgator affiliate links.

With this method, I might only be charging a small fee just to cover the rental of the classrooms.

This way I can be sure to hit the $125 per customers because in theory it seems easy to get 21 sign ups per session.

I also plan to use PLR materials as my course content so that i can skip the content creation part of the course.

But the negative part of this idea is that not everyone will have a credit card to make purchase.

And it is also almost confirmed that most students will not have any credit cards too.

Any idea to go around this?

I did that once and I now have a new rule for myself. Of you don't understand the internet or you can't email someone then I don't work for you. I picked up this one customer and she would keep me on the phone forever and call me ok on every thing...just not worth it.
