There's quite a few factors involved.

Are you going to design a template, or will they choose one?
    Who's providing the content?
    Does it need writing?
Do they need any bespoke plugins?
Do they need any forms building?
Will they optimise each page or will you do that?
    Do they need training?
Are you going to support it?
What if they get stuck and need your help?
    What if they break it?

These are just off the top of my head...

These are very good points, and also lots of neat things to add to a proposal to bulk up the price.

For a wordpress site with a simple 5 page structure, home page, about page, contact page, privacy, terms page... you can charge upwards of $800..

You can easily charge $1500 or more for that structure, but i would say start lower first to build up your confidence and then raise your prices.

For bigger sites with many pages you can charge $2000+...

All of this can be outsourced for under $300 so you are making massive profits either way,

Just get all the info from the customer, send it to the outsourcer, get paid 50% upfront, and 50% when its done...

these are just a couple of thoughts, but there are MANY ways you can do this...

the trick is not to worry about it so much...... but definately charge more than you think its worth... simply because in the online world everything is dirt cheap, and you would be ruining the percieved value of it if you offered it for $400..

Usually if a client has the option of spending $400, or $2000 on a site, they would go for the more expensive option because they automatically assume they are getting better value! use this to your advantage and make more money!

Pricing can have a wide range, but a lot depends on you location and what people are willing to pay for the service.

If you can show value to the client, then using a higher price tag isn't as difficult.
