How to put an icon on a smartphone...

So I had this idea for a taxi service in my area. How would I go about creating an icon that could be downloaded on to a phone to where the customer just clicks the icon and their phone dials the taxi company. Would I have to design a small app to be downloaded? It could even be kind of a bookmark of sorts that took them to the cab's mobile website, then I could add the call now button. I just think having the business's logo on the phones 'desktop' would be really effective for the business. What do you think?

    It's interesting that you posted this. I do exactly that
    as part of a package for my FB Business Pages customers.

    They get their very own iPhone Web App, with a home screen icon
    of their logo. The app has their menu + coupons on it, and when
    their customers view it and decide what they want to eat, they
    just tap their number, and bingo - it calls them.

    It acts just like a native app. If you'd like, just use your smartphone

    Then just 'add to home screen'.

    You'll see what I mean.
