Hi Fellow Offliners, just wanted to drop a little resource for you. It's been around for a while, but I figure if I wasn't aware of it maybe there's others who might not be aware of it.

A while back I was having a tough time when it came to putting proposals together. In fact, let me just clarify that and be honest with you...

I was scared to death of doing it, which unfortunately meant that when someone said, "Hey B...Sounds good so why don't you shoot me a proposal..." that was pretty much the end of the line for me.

My hesitance to put them together led to me dragging my feet and ultimately losing out on those deals. Oh how I wish I could turn back the hands of time...

Anyhow, I recently stumbled across two sites.
  • Proposable
  • BidSketch

I'm still testing both (for roughly 10 days) but so far must say that I'm pleasantly surprised. Sort of leaning towards bidsketch because it seems more geared towards offline stuff.

But either way, these days I actually look forward to putting proposals together b/c its
  • quick
  • easy
  • gives me a chance to wow my prospects

I also love the fact that they also allow you to add terms to your proposals that clients can agree to or refuse which saves me the time and hassle of trying to draw up a separate services agreement.

Long story short...I'm a happy camper. Hope this helps someone else out. Good luck!

Disclaimer: I'm no attorney so don't take this as the gospel or as me trying to give you legal advice. If you need help on that end you better hire urself an attorney

  • Both of those services are definitely good for offline biz. I have used both and leaned toward proposable but now I have created my own template to use. Check out those sites if your into offline and need help.

Both of these sites look promising. I always just saved "master" word docs for each service I offer to my clients. Not nearly as professional as these however.

@ESM Thanks. I feel you on Proposable. But my only slight gripe if you wanna call it that is that I couldnt seem to find their web design template so I ended up having to make my own which wasn't that hard but took a bit longer than I intended. However, I did notice on one of their pages that they had an example of a web design template but can't find it. Do you have to upgrade to access that template or did you make your own? Just curious.

What's up @PD! That's true, using a standard doc file is certainly an alternative. And to be honest I had a couple of word templates before trying these two services out. But my problem with that is that I was never really too happy with my agreements/proposals to begin with.

To me they looked intimidating and I found that a lot of the proposals and stuff that I picked up on the internet had that air of ultra seriousness to them and that just aint my style...

Not to mention that search and replace to update client names, pricing and stuff like that was sort of tedious for me.

But I guess what's important is that everybody do the thing that best suits their own situation. Thanks for you input!
