How do i convert those people who do business in the news paper. Could i offer classified posting service to them every month because they normally get scared at the though of creating a website lol.

The best way I've found to get business to sign on who are running print ads (whether it's in the newspaper, coupon clipper, yellow pages, etc...) is to offer them a mobile website QR Code package. Explain to them that you can turn their "static print ad into an interactive piece of media" by placing a QR Code in their print ad. Link the QR Code to a mobile website you create for them and people who see the newspaper ad can get more information about the business than can normally fit in a print ad.

I hope this helps set you in the right direction!

      Ben,

Just wondering why you'd use a QR code to link to a mobile website instead of a "regular" site where you could give more information and readily serve up video?

Most who receive these coupon paks do so at home so why link to a mobile site which is limited in the information it provides?

    Great post Ben.

Also I would suggest talking to them about SMS service(if you offer it) and how they can leverage the newspaper ad to get more people on their list.

What means more business to them? Offer a 10% off coupon in the paper or having people sign up to their SS list for that 10% off coupon and sending other coupons and deal on a weekly(or so) basis?

They run that newspaper ad every few months and they bring in leads that turn into repeat customers.

      Great way to go, Ben!

      Here's what I've done, recently;

      1) Created a Mobile website for a Plumber (Generic...with 555-1234 as phone # and Generic Name & address)
      2) Created a QR Code to bring "Prospective Plumbers" TO the site I created.
      3) Phoned some plumbers telling them I had created a Mobile Website for them and told them I'd send them an email on how to access it

Phone 3 plumbers (on their Cell)....got a call back within an hour!

      Ka-Ching!

There's one reason why they're advertising in the papers...

    They want more sales.

If you can show them how to get more sales, give them actual proof and show them that they don't need to spend so much on advertising every insertion they make... you'll have your foot in the door.

And if these businesses do not have a website. Show them some stats from Google keyword tool and illustrate on how much business their losing by not having a web presence.

I would not put something in the newspapers because the businesses themselves are advertising and they aren't looking for their services there. You need to find them in the newspaper, get their contact info and research them online. Then approach them with a package deal that is catered just for them. I would email them, use LinkedIn, send info on their website contact form, etc. Send them a package that they can review, understand, and make it a no brainer for them.
