Is Google Offering Marketing Services?

Hey Everyone,

I just got a call from my mom. I set her up with some adwords a couple of weeks ago for her business.

She called me today to tell me that Google called her and told her that they can get her in the top 7 spots of Yelp!, Yellow Pages, etc.

Cost $99 up front
Monthly $199 a month

Plus they would could build her a website if she needed one.

Does that sound right?

Has anyone else seen or heard of this?

    It's just some dumb internet marketing pretending to be them. We got a message on our machine at work last thurs that got forwarded to me. I hit delete about 15 seconds in.

      I haven't personally experienced this, but it sounds like lordauric got it right. Google isn't going to sit down and call everyone who uses adwords and especially isn't going to offer to build a site for them. It's definitely some sketchy IM'r trying to play off of Google's reputation. I'd tell her to ignore them.

    Hi Matt,

    In my own opinion It's a misleading marketing strategy from some companies out there. There's no way GOOGLE will do that. I classify these kind of people as con-artists. It's certainly a fraud. If I were you, I'll contact GOOGLE and report these kind of activities. You can also call the authorities to work on these guys. It will basically ruin the reputation of the Internet Marketing Industry if it gets worse.

    The mere fact that some people doesn't even know a thing about Internet, Its a potential threat to these people.
