Google Places question and search terms?

Why do some keywords show Google Maps/Places in the search results and some don't?

For example: If I type in 'website design dallas texas', I don't see the Places results on the first page. However, if I type in 'graphic design denton' all the Places listing show up.

It seems that some keyword phrases directed toward local searches will pull Places/Maps listings and some don't.

Anyone know why?

Also, if you're trying to rank a client in Places at the letter 'A', what good will it do if the Places listings aren't showing for his keyword?

I would check to make sure that searches for his service in his town are pulling a Google Places map listing, otherwise I wouldn't be trying to sell him any of that. I have noticed what you're taking about too, but to be honest, I don't think anyone can give you a good answer. It's just what Google is doing.

Ok. Let me ask a second question.

If 'website design dallas texas' does NOT produce any Places listings and I chose to use the phrase 'graphic design denton' which DOES produce Places listings, what impact will it have if 'graphic design denton' has 0 (zero) monthly searches when researched via the Google Keyword Tool?
