Here's an idea I had (haven't tried it yet)...
It's a way to get your foot in the door. Also has the possibility to introduce QR codes to local biz's AND get them to make a mobile site!!!
1) Create a qr code that leads to their site (preferably their mobile site, if they have one).
2) Make a SIGN that has that QR code -- LARGE -- at the bottom, and above it, the sign says, "Sorry We're Closed"
3) Give it to them to replace the "Closed" sign they had been using.
Now, if someone comes to their shop after hours, at least they can find out what the store is all about via their mobile website.
It's a gift you can make, and give to them as an icebreaker.

PPS: You could make the QR code lead to a special coupon that gives some kind of a discount -- a "Sorry We Missed You" discount to make up for the inconvenience that the store was closed when they tried to visit.
