The Real Deal Offline Series: "Would You Rather Have A $5000/mo Offline Biz Or $5000/mo Online Biz?"

Hey Offliners,

Every now and then I'll get a problem client who makes me look back on my online marketing days and wish I'd never left. Thankfully, this doesn't happen to often, but I'd be lying if I said it never happens.

So, today I have a question for you.

Would you rather have a $5,000/month offline income stream from five clients or a $5,000/month income stream from 250 buyers buying a internet marketing $19.99 product?

Now, this may seem like a unreal hypothetical situation, but I would beg to differ.

See, as you continue to buy internet marketing and offline marketing products that you're actually implementing for yourself or your clients, several things begin to happen.

For starters, you continue to get better at online marketing for your clients. At the same time, you also begin to see other lucrative business opportunites just because you have developed your skills, gathered resources and now have some extra cash available.

For me it was product creation. One day a light bulb went off in my head while I was creating a marketing campaign for a client AND simultaneously directing the design team on the packaging of this marketing campaign.

Suddenly, I realized that if I could do this for a client, then I could do this for myself. I could simply have my design team create a wordpress template, powerpoint template, ecovers & report covers for me instead of another business owner.

Then, I could record videos documenting what I'm doing in my own business and sell them to business owners or other offliners.

My first product brought in almost $5,000 in a month! It was a crazy experience because I'd done less work than ever before and made more money for doing less work.

So, then I began to think about it and I realized that there may be other offliners who prefer answering a few questions, bumping a few threads and ranking cpa or affiliate landing pages better than they enjoy working in the trenches with offline clients.

In fact, as my own internet marketing business grows, one of the challenges I'm facing is the growth of my truly passive online marketing income has the potential in the next six to twelve months to surpass my current offline income.

So, what about you?

Would you rather have a $5,000/month offline income stream from five clients or a $5,000/month income stream from 250 buyers buying a internet marketing $19.99 product?

In the end, it all comes down to the numbers. In your model, if you lose one offline client, you've just lost 20% of your income! If you lose one online client the monetary loss is negligible.

I'm making the same transition you are. Offline has been very good for me, but there will come a day when I'd rather spend my time traveling for fun rather than meeting with clients. Right now I enjoy helping businesses build a presence on the Internet, and I'm paid well for it.

Although I'm an offline sales trainer, I say I'd rather have $5K/mo online, definitely. SO MANY functions of business are automatable (heh, is that even a word? I'm leaving it in!) online that inbound marketing, checkout, and delivery of products and services is much easier. Far less time consuming too!

Online because I cannot go to offline meetings smelling bad and in my underwear...Clients expectations of grooming are ridiculous these days!

I make good money from both, so wouldn't want to give up either If push came to shove though, I'd choose online as it offers more freedom

I would rather make 5000 per month from 5 clients because it is much easier to manage expectations and perform the necessary work to their rankings. Also those clients will have deep pockets and will not mind paying a high price. This means that they will not nit pick and harass you daily about rankings as long as you bring results.

at the moment I do prefer offline

not to do with the hassles or anything like that but because my ROI is way higher oflfine than online.

I get my money back quicker and thus can move my money quicker to other investments or strategies

Well i will consider both, online biz can be automated. And handling only 5 offline clients a month is not a big issue. If you have good relationship with your offline clients, you will enjoy working with them. And whenever you get free time you can spend it for your online biz. Why i said both because this will increase your online and offline presence & reputation in the market at the same time.

The two go together hand in hand. It's not so much a matter of "either or". To me it's more a matter of which basket do you put more of your eggs in or which is a bigger priority. Honestly, the answer to that question will depend on what phase of your IM journey you're on. Some have the resources to comfortably delay the gratification of an instant payday and don't want to worry about someone else's projects - so for folks in this boat online is probably a better option.

Whereas you have folks who prefer to get paid now and don't mind mingling, networking, and having a direct impact on someone else's success or failure-offline might be more practical for this bunch.

As for me I like both but prefer to get paid now. Don't get me wrong there's instant affiliate programs and stuff like that but for the most part online requires a little more waiting. Which is why I do both but put offline first.
