Where to get a us based phone number?

Hello,

There is a company called Global Call Forwarding (dot) com. They appear to accept Paypal. Have you tried them? It would allow you to get a US number and have it forward to whatever international number you would like.

How about getting a Skype online number - that's all I use:

Skype Online Number - Skype

You can then either answer calls over the Internet or just set up a voicemail message for your business so anyone who calls can leave their name and number and you can call them back.

They are pretty affordable and you can choose wherever you would like the number so if you are doing most of your business in the US you can grab a US number, that way when you call people in the US it will be local call rates.

I use Skype and love it. I also pay them via PayPal. Just remember that you get 50 free outbound calls to 50 different numbers per day. After that, they start charging you per minute fees. For most, that's enough.

Skype is fairly essential.
You can use Google Voice to forward into your Skype number.

Due to the nature of the product (intangible digital download) we can not issue any refunds on orders placed.

Now... What if your numbers don't work? $4 a number isn't bad, but for $7 a number I know I get 90 days and 60 minutes and I know for sure the numbers are good. Could always use another source of numbers that actually work with craigslist.

I use voip.ms you can get local numbers from anywhere. Use x-lite softphone software with it, takes a small bit of tech work but its only .99cent a month. And extremely cheap calls.

I have a US skype # and it's been great.

I tried tagging on a flynumber local # onto it, so that people in the places I was calling into could call me back without LD charges, but the call quality was lousy.

Maybe you can PM your FlyNumber username and I can see why the quality was "lousy" . If the number isn't live I wouldn't mind offering you a free number to test out again

I am in Canada and I used MagicJack which gives me a US phone number. You can choose a phone number from any state.

If your purpose is purely US number, skype is just fine.... but if the number has to meet some criteria, like it has to pass CL verification, then you have to get a TIER 1 kind of phone number... which you can get from my friend.... i can assist you on this.... skype: louie.henri

Skype and google voice are great but keep in mind that any voice over IP service like these are as good as your internet service. I say this because the internet quality is different for different countries. If your internet is not perfect for any reason, I would recommend going with one of the companies that would forward the number to your international number. I'm sure most of these companies also use voice over IP but the internet use will be on the company's end, not yours. I'd say start with google voice or skye considering the cost and if that doesn't do well change to another service. Hope this helps!
