Frequency and Length of Emails for Offline Business

I have a couple of offline clients, one is a chiropractor, and he is sending out his emails monthly.

However, I've been reading about sending out emails more frequently.

I think the emails should be sent out at least once or twice a week.

What do you suggest based on your own results?

Also, I think the emails should be short and have links to anything that requires more information?

I hate reading long emails. What do you think, include it all in the email or link it to something for the "rest of the story"?

Thanks

P.S. For my own online marketing, I send out emails at least weekly and some list daily.

    Depends on the business.

If I got a weekly email about random stuff from my chiropractor I think itd be a tad annoying.

However a monthly one checking in with me would be pretty acceptable

My chiropractor sends monthly emails. I know quite a few chiropractors and they seem to have a strong relationship with their patients. It's quite unlike the relationship that people seem to (not) have with their MD. Having said that, I believe that many successful chiropractors would be well received by their patients if they were to send weekly emails.

However, there are those people that would simply not read emails regardless of the frequency.

I agree that I would probably get annoyed if it wasn't valuable information, but some times I;m surprised by new things that are offered that I didn't know anything about.

    I appreciate the responses.

I wonder if there are any Warriors who have helped chiro's and what their experience has been?

Make sure he is actually sending valuable information.

Throw a blog up for him. Keep it simple and not to flashy.

Send his list emails twice a week. My motto is "ALWAYS BE MAILING."

You will always annoy some people, but frequent emails mean more eye balls.

    Anyways,

Make each email short like 1 to 2 paragraphs, just tease them, and then give them a link that'll bring them back to the blog for the "full scoop."

If you are a good copywriter, and can write compelling blog posts titles and emails that tease, then you can easily help him better monetize his email list.

Thank you. He did already have a great website and I created a blog for him and I created the list and the emails.

It's just the frequency that is in question. I agree, I was thinking the emails should be short with link to more because I hate long emails, myself.

I just wanted to get some input from others so thanks a lot of the input.

I know what I personally open is a short pithy email to a video link. Can't see why it would not work for any biz. As a side note, one spa I am doing work for is actually sending an email and then calling the list, if even just to leave a message about a coming client building event. 50% response rate!

I have no agenda but to help those in the same situation. This I feel will pay the bills.

Wow! Thanks for the tip. 50% response rate, if I could get that for this guy he would be ecstatic.

He does have a lot of new and different things than the other chiro's around here, we just need to tell people about them.

Thanks for the response. I will talk to him about adding the calling.

      :-)

I personally make recommendations for weekly emails. I tell them to pick the same day every week and send an email that day.

I think monthly can be too long because people start to forget about you and then get trigger happy on the spam button next month when your email comes.

Sounds like you've got content figured out but I do recommend weekly for frequency.

I would recommend weekly email on same day at same time.
This work great after 2,3 weeks subscriber will start waiting for your email, because he remembers that someone is going to mail him on a particular day at particular time.

Imagine a subscriber waiting for your email, thats awesome.

But email should provide value otherwise this kind of relation can not be built

Yes, thank you both. I agree. I think that weekly is about the minimum time you would ever do.

Time flys so fast. Just yesterday I was thinking someone hadn't gotten back to me in a week and when I looked at the last email, it was just the day before. :-)

I think if I got one email and then didn't get another one in a couple weeks or more, that I would've forgotten all about it.

    It differs.

Some of my clients send emails weekly, some twice a month... Also some of them pay close attention to their blogs and some not. You can give an advice but it really depends on themselves. Whether they find interesting information for their subscribers or do not spend time on that.

I would look at every particular situation...

True, but since they also have hired me to increase their clients, I need to advice them on what I think is best.

I think if I can show one person how another client of mine in the same profession increased his sales by sending out weekly rather than monthly or every two week emails, it might encourage him to work a bit more to come up with content for weekly emails.
