What ads got you or other clients to use an Auto Mechanic Repair Shop?

Are Automotive Repair mostly word of mouth?

What ads, webpage or video got you to choose a mechanic, if any?

What offline approach have you seen get bonafide results in the area of Auto Repair?

Usually word of mouth, you would not know one service provider if good unless has been tested right? Not sure about promoting stuff, but you can utilize social networking sites for local market.

I usually try out a mechanic shop if they offer some kind of discount coupon, like a free oil change with inspection/emission. I find these through places like Groupon, or the news circulars.

I got a good one the other day, it was a "free oil change up to 5 quarts, no strings attached". Once they get you in the door I'm sure there will be the usual OMG did you see this type upsells. Your job is just to get them in the door though. I saved that Ad if nothing more to study, because I know if it grabbed me like that and I study marketing then it's got to work like gold!

It was standard presorted mail with an advertisement for a tire deal on the actual outside letter.

I usually find more auto mechanics through direct mail. Same goes for my close family and friends.

You can also try Groupon of those social deal sites.

Sell them on signage and possibly referral offers (send me a client and I will give you free oil change). Can use aweber for second feature.

I have no agenda but to help those in the same situation. This I feel will pay the bills.

Last year I saw a car that was a hunk of junk that had a magnet sign on the side of it that said:

My Car Still Running Thanks To
    Rick's Garage @ 117 Lake Ave.
    (585) 000-0000

It caught my attention, so my guess would be it caught others and got that auto shop some business.

    Hope this helps,

    Martin
