Greeting cards for direct mail?

Any thoughts on using greeting cards for your direct mail campaign instead of a letter or postcard?

I would think a greeting card would definitely get opened because it looks like.....well......a greeting card and not junk mail.

Send-Out-Cards has a "general business" section of cards that you could include your offer and a link or QR code to your site. I'm not sure of the cost per card, though. But even if it's still higher than regular direct mail letters, yet gets results, I think it would be worth it.

So has anyone tried this?

Why not get a first anniversary card.

"I know this is a bit forward but I believe working together would benefit us both. Give me a call so we can set up a meeting. I'd love to show you why you will be looking forward to our first anniversary as much as I am."

Only actually make it better than what I just wrote in 20 seconds. But you get the idea.

I've used Send-Out-Cards for the past 3 years in all of my businesses. You can create cards by uploading pics... So its actually a very good idea... I think it is like 32 cents per postcard or something like that, it's been so long, but it is still super cheap to send post cards....

Ok, I just checked and it's actually 29 cents per post card...

I saw that on their site too, but I wasn't sure if that was for the card and postage or just the postage. I know they use credits for payments.

I also love the Anniversary card idea. A business owners may call just because it's so creative and they would want you working on their marketing.

Totally agree this might increase open rates and conversions. Is all about running a small test campaign and scale it up accordingly

That's for the card and postage. And I agree with Manny, great way to test. Do you have an account now? I think I can set you up with enough points to test a small run.

Thanks for the offer. I have a really old account and sure enough I still have $25 on there. I haven't used it for years which is why I forgot about it.

Now I have to come up with some creative verbage to put in the cards.

That's a great idea and yes it will work, just remember that your list is EVERYTHING.

You can send the best mail piece in the world to a sh*t list and you'll get terrible results.

The key is to make it look like it's from a friend, and trust me the old school #10's don't work as well anymore as some people might tell you. So yes, you're definitely on the right track with the greeting cards

Last year I got a deal on 500 green greeting card size envelopes and I had no idea what I was going to do with them, but then about 3 weeks before christmas it hit me to use the green envelopes to market one of my ebooks by mail order, as my thinking was they would get a really high readership at christmas time as green is a christmas color and people would open them thinking it was a christmas letter.

Well, witin 2 week after christmas, I ended up getting 143 orders at $19.95 or $2,852.85 in total sales, so after postage and envelope costs of around $250, I ended up earning a profit of around $2,600.

So, I would think if you use greeting cards at a time when people are exspecting say a birthday card, christmas card etc. you will have success with them.

    To your success,

    Martin

Test it and see I guess. Personal opinion only....I'd find it annoying. A greeting card is a greeting card - don't send me one unless you're a friend or a relative. I get one from a business? I'll probably scan it to see who it's from, then straight into the bin. That's what I've done before.
But if you're a business I'm already doing business....it'll still go in the bin, but it'll have been worth your while in the "relationship marketing" stakes. Even then it's a bit iffy.
