is there a way to get a screenshot on a mobile device?

I want to start prospecting mobile sites, however, I know it would more effective if I could show them a picture of their own website.

Is there any way to do this on a real computer or is taking a picture of the smart phone the only way?

On the iphone you can hold the home button and click the standby button at the top to take a screenshot of the screen. I'm sure there's similar methods with android, palm, blackberry, etc.

Taking a picture OF the phone IMO would look pretty unprofessional and I wouldn't recommend this.

Edit: I misread the question I think - you can try this plugin for Firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...odify-headers/

Basically you can make the browser render the page as it would appear on a mobile device. This can be useful for taking screenshots and doing mobile development once you get clients.

With Windows you can do a print screen, then save as a JPG. Or if you need a full screen shot, you can use Snag It (paid software) or I think there may be a FireFox add on that will do the same thing.

    Thanks,

We sell "Mobile Sites" using SnagIt and a "Printed" presentation.

      1) Using an Emulator like IPhoneTestor.com etc (Quentin Brown's emulator is much better)....enter their present website
      2) Scan the image with SnagIt and "Crop" it so only the Phone is in the image. Print out the image.
      3) Enter a Sample Site you've done...enter into emulator...scan, crop and print out Image to show prospect the difference

        Hi there,

Having tried loads of different mobile emulators online I was beginning to think the market was absolutely massive (I know its big and the majority of sites I was testing were just showing the top left hand corner on the screen. But, when I got my friend to double check on his Iphone his result was completely different ie the example website showed up great, smart appearance, no side scrolling etc...has anyone else had this problem? Do I just need to buy an Iphone before I look a right berk in front of prospects?
        Regards,
        Andy

Yes i have noticed the disparity too - My current guess is .. there are two ways the target site knows which site to show a visitor - one based on screensize and one based on device - if the site does not detect a mobile device it presents the full version - the on screen emulators are not allways able to get the site to show a mobile version if the site is using a device based redirect, only if the site is using a screen size based redirect - but the mobile vesion is always presented to a smart phone - so it makes the emulator thing risky for sales calls -

chuckle, why you would attempt to do a sales demo without a smart phone is beyond me
"Oh look mate you need a mobile site because everyone is using smartphones to search for services, and I can do it 'cause I'm an expert - oh ahhh can I show you on your pc cause I ah don't have a smart phone ...... whats that ... oh yea , I know where the door is ....."

            Hi Danny,
            Thanks for the reply...
The WSO I'm doing suggests doing screenshots and emails for prospective clients therefore I need a reliable emulator.
Of course, you are absolutely right for face-to-face prospecting..lol
