Partnership with offline businesses

I have been thinking to go around and try to find some offline businesses that would be interested in partnership in selling what they have to offer online.

I was thinking more about businesses that have actual products and not services.

I have a clothing store near my appartment and I have already talked to the owner about Ecommerce and online marketing and he is interested. I also have several toy stores and baby product sellers. I can create an Ecommerce website and SEO it and then forward all the orders to them for a percentage of the sales.

Has anyone tried this before? Any tips?

So you create the website and do the SEO and they just give you a percent of the sale?

That is what eBay is for and will probably cost them less, UNLESS you want to take only 5% or something like that.

I think you're better off selling them on the eCommerce website and SEO at a monthly rate.

Ebay is not as popular as you think outside US. And Ebay is no where to be found in the search engines. All Ebay does is give them access to people who buy on Ebay.

As long as you can keep your clients honest about how much they are selling (and therefore how much your commission cheque should be), it could work.

Ecommerce can be difficult, though. If you are tracking inventory, invoicing and payments then complications may arise. Different systems don't talk well to each other usually...integrating them is challenging. You don't want to give them and yourself a headache!
