Google places listings

Hello warriors,

I know there are a number of factors that play a part in ranking of a Google places listing.

However, I wanted to know if there are tools, software, sites that I use use to assess the strength of competition.

Any help or advice you can offer will be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Kamlesh

Well Strength of the competition comes from the keyword which you are targeting for that website.. if you have high competition in that keyword, you will face same in the places listing.. one thing which i would like to advice you is that try making your places llisting 100% percent.. post some authentic reviews on regular basis//

Hey Ktman, the very best local tool, by far, is Whitespark dot you know!! There your can
find local citations that are so local nobody ever finds them. Another nice feature is it
will show you the top 7 box with links. You can pull a report which will show every citation your comp. has and links to that citation. Another cool feature is you can compare all seven together and see which has which citations and who doesn't. P.S. I am not affiliated with them at all just a happy customer.

      • Scout also does REALLY good competitive analysis PLUS does rank tracking and citation finding. I just did a review on my blog plus Scout is at the top of my tools page. I think I have all the tools and am a BETA tester for many. But Scout is my swiss army knife for local these days and does pretty much everything I need. Plus I'm working with the developer to add some REALLY HOT new features no one else has. (Coming soon.) Plus there are lots of other FREE local SEO tools on that page as well.

One of my fav local SEO tools and totally free is the version of Scroogle that I embedded on that page toward the top. It shows you the PURE organic ranking (without local, Places, Blended, adwords, history or personalization and I even set it up with SSL so it won't phone home to Google). So what this does is SIMULATE the way pure organic ranking were BEFORE the blended algo hit. So you can size up the local competition on PURE organic factors or see how strong a potential new client's site is organicly or well... I could go on and on I use that tool all the time for a variety of analysis. 2 other cool things it does are it highlights the KWs in the SERPS and numbers the rankings. (I even set up a version on that page right below it, that filters out yellow pages and stuff so you can see pure organic for all the Dentists or Plumbers or whatever without any YPs or Directories getting in the way.)

I second the vote for Local Citation Finder from Whitespark. It's a good tool.

Although I am not an authority, I am yet to read that Alexa can assist with Google places. Any thoughts from other warriors?

Once again, many thanks for your help.

Try to do everything manually! Google place ranking isn't like Google SERP. So, best bet should be organic!

for ranking you should focus on the off page...the SEO is needed for that.do regularly posting on forum and blog.bookmarking also helps you lots.so do manually work as much as possible.
