Marketing a 'Speed Dating' business?

Hey everyone,

I've recently launched a 'Speed Dating' business - we've had one event a few weeks ago which was a great success but it's quite difficult to get the word out there initially because we're nowhere near the top results on any of the search engines and theres alot of other established websites competing with me.

I was just wondering if anyone had any good ideas to market this? I've had some flyers designed and put them in the venues but it doesn't seem to be converting that well.

Thanks!

I would head on over to POF, or Plenty of Fish.

Open up your advertising account and target your clients by a whole list of options.

    Age
    Area
    Income
    etc..
    etc..

You made me laugh when you suggested POF. I hate this website. Makes me think that it's just another site with model pics and robots who respond with 5 word answers.

You want to market your speed dating site? Advertise in the "personals" section of your newspaper. Go to craigslist.com and advertise there too. Run PPC ads to get instant traffic. Join dating forums to participate in to get the word out about your business. And include a simple SEO and web marketing campaign to get the word out about your speed dating business.

You need to start doing some SEO, on page SEO and off page SEO, and your site will move up in the SERPS over time, in the meantime you need to push traffic to your site, start a facebook page, Show what you offer, get involved into some groups and start posting content, so you can get traffic to your site.

Also I would check out POF, or Plenty of Fish, like the above warrior mentioned. Another site I would check out is meet-up, go to the single groups and start connecting, you do not have to be number 1 in Google to be success, of course that is everyone goals and you should work towards that, but in the meantime start connecting with singles and push them to your site.

Speed Dating needs offline promoting as well.
Design flyers and place them anywhere there are groups of people.. eg gyms, sports clubs, etc.
Also classified ad sites such as gumtree and craigslist.
Email all your friends and ask them to spread the word.
Announce it on Facebook and ask everyone there to spread the word too.

Contact dating agencies direct and tell them what you're doing. Maybe offer them a commission for every person they send? They have the numbers so that's a good way to do it.

Join dating forums and spread the word. Don't spam them but I am sure that if you do all these things and the other ideas suggested, you'll eventually build up a reputation.

    Good luck!

Local newspapers are the way to go, especially for local dating events!

Also, you should have no trouble getting local radio stations and newspapers to give you free advertising. A well-written press release could even get you on tv (assuming you have some video clips on a press page on your site)

Also, give a couple free tickets to the radio station to give away for you. And ask for a quick 5 min spot to talk about the events. They should be happy to add the tickets to their giveaways.

By the way, I love your template for your DateinaDash site... sent you a PM with some questions.
    Cheers
    Jason

I would split test the pink website with blue. Pink could give you a high CTR with men (after you figure out how to get more traffic)

Traditionally, it is more difficult to get male sign ups to these events. Both sexes like blue. Think Eharmony, Twitter and the #1 website FB.
