WooCommerce Themes for online shopping?

Today after a little cold calling I talked to guy who wants an online store for his florist.

He already has a website he was paying a guy to design and build, but he couldn't handle an ecommerce site.

Anyway I told the guy it would need a total redesign, and that I would hit him with an investment figure on Monday.

I am thinking of using one of the WooCommerce themes for the site, and the Eway Australia extension to take credit cards. Has anyone had any experience with these 2 products?

And also, what other stuff do I need to make the site to function? Like SSL certificate of something?

I am thinking of charging him $1700 for the site. I figure it will take about 5 hours to fully set up, + 2 hours tweaking it for him and then another 1 hours to teach him how to use it. So 8 hours in total. Plus $70 for the theme and $50 for the extension. So maybe 8 hours for 1500 profit = $187 an hours, which I would be very happy with

Thanks for any help guys!

    Hi mate - congratulations!
re: the theme - It will make the setup easier to use an ecommerce theme - however, it is then hard to change the appearance in the future without a lot of work.
I am putting together my first online store at the moment.
I went with the shoppe plugin - I can then choose (and later change) any theme I wish
straight forward setup, well documented, good support.
re: ssl cert - If taking credit card info - yes you will need it - I have a reseller a/c with hostgator - they set it up for $50
re: eway - I have had a look at that -but you will still need to get an online merchant acount to process the payments over the web so you will end up paying annual + transaction fees on both setups -
I went for a simpler setup - shoppe has a manual processer add on
customer inputs the credit card info online and retailer manually processes order in the shop ( still need an ssl cert) - but no other extra ongoing fees.(already has cc in shop)
My customer was happy with that as he wanted to avoid problems if some items were out of stock
shoppe - also does eway and a couple of other gateways
    plus Aus post calculator

$1700 is cheap for an ecommerce site - Unless it's very simple I suspect you will spend much longer on it - however it's still a fair amount of cash and you will get a great addition to your resume - Build in a decent hosting fee - adsolute min $20/month and offer ongoing support, giving good residual income
    good luck with it

Trust me, you will spend more than 8 hours

You should ask Eway Australia if they require the site to have SSL. Which most likely you'll need to buy dedicated IP.

      Thanks for the replies guys.

The reason I was looking at using woocommerce is because I have heard it is incredibly simple to use. But at the same time you are right, you cannot change the way it looks too much.

I am then thinking it may be better/easier to outsource the job. It would reduce the profit dramatically, but I am also going to be doing GP and SEO for this guy on this business and another. So I definitely want to get the job.

How would you guys go about outsourcing a job like this? Odesk? or maybe a fellow warrior maybe?

I am now thinking of offering him 2 packages.

    1. $1500 for a Ecommerce site where there will be not many changes in terms of the design.

    or

    2. $(i don't know yet) for completely custom Ecommerce site, where it is designed to exactly what he wants.

I would outsource the second option.

    So my question:

How much would it cost to outsource a job like this? And is there anyone on this forum who would want to do it?

For whatever price you would normally charge one of your clients for a job like this.

He has said he likes this site: http://www.flowersforeveryone.com.au/

So if it was completely custom that is the type of site we are looking at.
