Looking To Help On Other "Business Forums"..Ruffle Feathers???

Well I was looking at joining local business forums from my state to market myself, answer questions within my niche and yea promote my services. As I was reading some of the post there are a lot of "regulars" there that are know and trust worthy.

With any forum I dont want to join and seems like im trying to step on there toes, but at the same time who knows if there A holes and may try to bad mind my biz (playing devils advocate)

has anyone joined local forums to market yourselves even if there was already a "resident guru" who knows it all?

I haven't but will definately look into it. Don't worry what other people will say about your biz. Just go there be helpful and don't try to sell. People will appreciate honest, expect nothing in return help and when they really do need someone and they KLT you. They will contact you for business.

As for your concerns, people who will slag you or your business will just end up looking like a douche in the end.

Let us know how it goes.

There will always be resident gurus..

I have noticed if you contribute to a forum, people go out of their way to find you. Maybe not immediately, sometimes a few months later someone will find a post and contact you. It has happened here many times for me.

Just do it... who cares what other people think, as long as you get the exposure it is worth it!

As long as you are looking to help other people, you should be fine.

You can get yourself noticed (in a good way) by adding to posts made by any resident gurus.

Something along the lines of: "I totally agree with Mr Guru's advice. He obviously knows what he's talking about. In addition, I would suggest..." and then continue with your own spin on things.

No one knows everything and if you have informative, knowledgeable details to add, you'll be noticed and appreciated.
