Offline Marketing Ideas for Ranking a Furniture Store Top 3 in a Competitive Market

I am currently working with a local furniture store that spends thousands a month on Adwords, and my goal is to rank them on the top 3 results organically for the terms "fort worth furniture stores" or "fort worth furniture rental". This may be a bit of a challenge since the furniture industry is very competitive in the fort worth area, so I am looking for any expert tips. They do have a google places listing and it is already a blue pin, and their domain is about 12 years old and they have great seo already. This may be a tough local site to rank, so I am looking for any advice. I am currently working on a link-building strategy and also looking to enhance their social media presence on facebook and twitter. Any other tips or advice would be appreciated.

    Here's one suggestion, using content:

Write some articles on furniture care, furniture repair, and what to look for when choosing furniture – or you can interview the owner and transcribe that.

Put those on Ezine Articles in the first instance, and add pictures to make free reports to download from the site and share with friends. Put them on document sharing sites as well. The pictures you used, put them on Flickr, etc.

Then use those articles as video scripts - do one announcing an open day too.

Tweet, share, etc, your videos (put on YouTube). Make sure you optimise the video, and include your URL in teh description.

Then use the articles to create presentations, and put them on SlideShare.

Then use the articles to make lenses (Squidoo), etc.

Do you have a separate blog that's designed to send traffic to the main site? Get the articles there too – and the video and presentation versions.

Every time you do something, Tweet, Share and bookmark what you’ve done.

Let the list know too; have a teaser to each article, and a link through to the site.

You've gotten a lot of good advice.
Google has been preaching content from day one....give it to them on a regular basis.

Also, don't forget to mix in some Ft.Worth.....and some Tx & Texas

Create some info videos and list them on youtube

Create some mini sites dedicated to furniture and link to their site

    Create web2.0 sites (be ethical!)

Submit all RSS feeds to feedburners etc

Encourage client to get sign ups and use the new database to encourage likes and retweets in return for a discount or even a free piece of furniture if your client can see the benefits

Look in to creating an affiliate network for them

Get them to do an amazing offer and write press releases on them

    Craigs list??
