I own a "local" domain name - now what?

Hello everybody!

Some time ago I've bought the domain name VisaliaFitness.com. I did some research and noticed it was available and thought it could be useful for a fitness club in Visalia, CA.

Though I've got a few ideas in my mind, I wanted to ask for opinions from the experienced offliners here.

More precisely, if you built a site around this domain, what kind of content/articles would you put on it? Would you try to rent the site or sell it - and for what price? And how would you approach the potential buyers, via phone or email?

Would it be an good idea to try to resell the domain? Is this viable?

Any insight is very helpful. Thank you!

    I'm not sure what strategy you are looking into, but if it is local website rental Emma has some great info on her thread.

    It's about ranking for local areas then renting out the pages to local businesses.

      I'd try doing some SEO first and driving some local traffic to your site. That way, you have something real to show local businesses: "I get X number of hots, X number of visitors, etc."

          My suggestion is based on what I learned from Jack Mize. Businesses are NOT interested in a "WebSite"....they're interested in GETTING LEADS for their business....FROM their Website!

          With that in mind....I don't know how many "Fitness" places are in Visalia but....I would set up a ONE-PAGE Lead Generating Site....similart to what Jack has done (for an Example).... Houston Discount Roofing Contractors - Emergency Roof Repairs 713-242-1651

          Then....send an email (or phone)....the Fitness places in visalia and tell them....

          ...."YOU have created a Lead-Generating Website for a Fitness Center in Visalia! If they can handle More Members in their Fitness Center...go take a look at "VisaliaFitness.com"....then...Call Me at...555-1234....BEFORE one of your Competitors does!"

          Whala! Guananteed to appeal to the "Competitor Greed Glands" of ONE Fitness Center in Visalia!

          Also....www.VisaliaPlumber.com and www.VisaliaDiscountPlumber.com and www.visaliadiscountpainter.com....is also available as we speak!

      Create a one page content site and optimize it for keyword "Visalia fitness club"
      It's a good idea to write content with the topic like "What to look for in A Fitness Club in Visalia". After your site is optimized in the 1st page of Google, contact 2-4 fitness clubs in Visalia and offer them ad spaces in your website for a monthly fee. Create or outsource banner ads from fiverr and place them in your site.

    I would create some content about training, write or outsource about 30 articles, get some nice graphics for the page. Once you have all the graphics and all the articles I would drop an article a day on the site, start to do some on page and off page SEO. Build up the traffic to the site. Then once you have a valuable asset, then you can determine the best way to get the most profit from it. First focus on building it and ranking it.

      1) Set up www.VisaliaFitness.com as an "Info" site with some articles on Fitness
      2) Offer ONE Link to a Fitness Club website in Visalia for $200/mo. Then have Links on the Front Page of that site to....nearby towns;
      ...websites YOU set up in;
      Hanford....Farmersville...Ivanhoe...Dinuba....Lond on.....for $100 each per mo.

      So....one domain can be bringing you $700/mo
