Google Places, Analytics, Adwords on THEIR account or MINE?

Hi,
I've just started offline marketing and have my first couple clients. I just wondered whether to create a new Google account for each client for the purposes of: Places/Maps, Analytics, Adwords, Youtube ... or run them through my own Google account which I set up for this new business?

thanks,
Raymer

I set up everything for clients using their own accounts, to which I have password access.

The way I look at it, these are assets for the client, and as such should belong to them and be in their control.

Ultimately it will be their decision as to whether I will continue to have access based on my performance. That's as it should be, from their perspective.

I always set clients up with their own accounts. Not only are you are empowering them to take the reigns of their online world making you look like the good guys, as well as opening their eyes to a load of fantastic tools which will ultimately make their digital life more productive but you can also cut and run from them far easier should they prove to be a pain in the butt!

Setup their own accounts and link back to yours for reasons mentioned above. Also then they can access their stats etc anytime they want (though they rarely want to).

yeah i always set up a new account for clients and then give my own account administrative rights in webmaster tools for analytics and google places analysis. This way I don't have to keep logging in and out of accounts when doing the monthly reports.

      This is an interesting question.

I took a course from Howie Schwartz a longtime
ago and they recommended setting everything up
in your name so if the customer dropped your services
you could just hook up another client in the same niche
to what you have already done.

One of the problems with this approach is that there are
some things that have to be in the clients name.

Google places for example and all of the citations that you set up
must all match and be in the clients name.

There are other SEO things that you can do and direct to a client
that could be in your account.

But then what is the client paying for?
And how do you feel about it?

Is the client paying monthly just for your time?
Or he is paying for your time, your knowledge and the results?

Each of these could be approached differently.

I have also found that it is best to set the customers
expectations before you enter into an agreement.

So you could tell a prospect right up front I will
do this for you in month 1. I will do this for you in month 2
      and so on.

Then explain what you control and what he controls
and that if he decides to stop using your services what
      goes away.

It really comes down to how you want to run your business.

There are online membership sites where you can download
your stuff and cancel. There are others where it is very
hard to download anything so you keep paying the monthly
fee so you don't lose what you have already paid for.

It's a good question, that probably comes down to your
      comfort level.
