Does anyone know where I can go to search for business names. I have a few names I am tossing around since I want to go from consultant to full scale business. I just want to make sure they are available

If you are just going to have a dba, most county clerk offices maintain a site where you can see if the name you want is available. The same may hold true if you are looking into an LLC or SCorp but you need to do the search at the State level for that.

This is how it is where I live. Check your county clerk's website for DBA information (here they call it an FFN or Fictitious Firm Name). For an LLC or a Corp., check your Secretary of State's website.
