Ok been gearing up my offline biz now for the past month. Website is up and running. Blogging about SEO. Ranking first page for some pretty nice local terms.

Now.....trying to get my name out there. I just cant for now do cold calling. Scared, nervous, all those things are me when it comes to just calling. I know how I feel when I get calls like that so I assume the person on the other end feels the same way when they get a call out of the blue.

So lets put that aside for now and hear out my plan.

I got a lot of local ads from one niche here and that Realtors. Im focusing a test on a tri city area. My goal is to send out one by one a tailored email that will advise of my SEO service. I wont upsell a webdesign because im not good with most of the realtor software they use AND it also seems 1 company has taking over giving them the same design for there site.

My goal is to pitch them all BUT if one person bites and accepts I will only work with THEM for the tri city area. I cant see how I can do SEO for say 3 realtors all in the same city. Kinda defeats the purpose and I dont want to have friction with clients.

So. how do you think this will play out? Im going to do it first of the month for a new year kind of start to business. 1 client for a tri city area out of a few dozen that there are....possible?

You asked an opinion, so here's mine.

I've worked with scores of realtors and do so today and will in the future. I would not give exclusivity to one RE agent in a large tri-city area- no way. Only, maybe, if they were paying me a huge amount, and most realtors won't do that.

Instead, I would work with a number of them in more specific NICHES. one for Foreclosures, one for short sales, one for luxury homes etc.

No realtor can be effective with all type of leads or clients- not possible.
This way would allow you to work successfully with more RE's and rank them for their specific specialty...that way there would be few conflicts.

One is ranked for FC's in TRi-city, another for FHA Homes in tri-city, etc...that's my suggestion.
Note: cold calling realtors is not as stressful as you think, they are actually pretty easy.

I agree with Bruce. If you go the exclusivity route, your prospect pool will dry up pretty quick.
