Woohooo!!!!!! 2 Calls = $800 setup fee | $1000 mthly!!

So friggin excited!!! So I posted here last week about me approaching some people on Linkedin.. I ended up getting 2 restaurant owners interested in mobile / sms offer.

Was terrified to call them back, but just did it and winged it and boy am I glad I did!

First call, I totally bombed, was tongue tied and could not convey the message properly.. He just wanted so much information over the phone that quite frankly, I think I confused the hell out of him, which ultimately led to a flat out NO...

No biggy though.. the next call was to a restaurant owner in South Africa that owns 4 restaurants.. I made it very short and simple, to the point.. Made him feel the pain about not having a mobile site and the amount of customers he was losing out on..

He is familiar with SMS, but had no clue how to go about it..

I closed the deal by giving him the mobile sites for free for all of his restaurants.. and charged him a setup fee for all 4 = $800, which he has paid me already...=)

And I will be charging him $250 per restaurant for each SMS campaigns..

Thanks to this section of the Warrior Forum, and reading everyone's encouragement, trials and tribulations is what got my butt off the couch and actually implement this..

So a big thanks to all you guys out there who contribute so much to this forum!

Merry Christmas!!

Kim

Thanks so much everyone.. It's a great feeling, especially when you keep trying and get nothing.. I have to say after buying so many WSO's and just reading, I think I just got sick and tired of not doing anything due to that four letter word..."FEAR"..

I did practice on my husband quite a bit prior to the phone calls, so that helped a little bit too..

As for the approach on linked in.. I join specific groups. Once you are accepted, I manually went through each profile and sent a private message to the individuals that did not have a mobile site for their business. I used mobilizer to check it out.

In my email, I just stated that I was new to linkedin and I am trying to build up references and feedback to gain business. I would then tell them that I made a mock mobile site for them and if they would be interested in seeing it to let me know.. Once they looked at it and liked it they message me back about how to get it with their phone number. I had 2 restaurant owners this week that replied back..

As for building the sites, for now I am using brick and mobile, very simple to use and they look amazing but once I make enough money, I think I will just buy some mobile layouts, as I hate the thought of them having control with the hosting..

All I can say, is for everyone that is trying.. Just take action.. the more you do, the more chances you have at something happening!

    Cheers,

      Hi Kim

Not sure if you missed my post above, I said congratulations and also asked if you have some type of information I can use to learn this method as well, with so much about I would like to just look into the technique you currently use if that's good with you.

I'm actually in the Uk so would be great to start providing this as part of my SEO service, would just be an additional feature into our package.

Thats awesome good for you. One thing I learned about trying to pitch anything or even giving a speech in school was how important rehearsal and practice were for being successful.
Same curve that would exist if you did NOT rehearse one time at all or have a single thought about what you were going to say. You'd walk in and likely get more than tounge tied. Go in a second, third, fourth time and maybe the same thing would happen but to a lesser degree.

And then one day, week, or months later you might just eventually learn what the hell you are doing. Well one thing I do now to prevent that is take that "adaptive" stage of learning but engage it when I'm not actually adapting in real life. Same way a DJ might loop channels in sequence at home before going to the CLUB to "freestyle". Or same way a golfer goes to the range before playing 18. Before I go on any sale I always take out like 10 pages of blank paper (sometimes 50 for bigger jobs) and make a logical map of everything I want to say. I try to list it out as clearly as possible.
How do I want to come off?
Do I want to be aggressive and needy or passive and confident in my service?
Try to freestyle things as I go or have single executed powerhouse responses to everything they can say?

Things that just make me sound resourceful & knowledgable. I find if you can teach people something relevant & valuable, whether they really understand what it is you're trying to sell them, just because YOU are so confident in it makes them WANT to ACT like YOU. Thus triggering their confidence in YOUR service.

Confidence distracts us from our fears. Think about it. So there is ALREADY a huge tendency for others to want to BE confident. Its usually their self awareness that takes their mind off confidence and makes people fearful and anxious of random things. Like a pause in conversation can make a person scratch their head or play with their hair or dart their eyes to the side. They become self aware and need to displace the anxieties of awareness. ALSO like how customers are more likely to tip when in front of a mirror, which is why bars always have them behind the counter (and diners/restaraunts anywhere behind their registers or on the side just look).
USE this stuff to your advantage. Teach someone something, something potently relevant. It will take their mind WAYY OFF themselves and into an elevated reality. Afterwards just aim to shoot them back into self awareness mode (bring up something related to their ambitions like their job)and try to sell them something.

ps. I am by no means a guru in anything but I do know it is far easier to sell stuff to people who are self aware. If you manipulate the stages that come before self awareness you can definitely tip the boat in your direction. Whatever that means.

This is my first client, so I just wanted to sweeten and seal the deal by giving him value (sites for free) and the fact that I am new. Each site would normally cost anywhere from $100 to $500 to build, depending on the amount of pages involved.

I took Arron's approach from another thread on here..

      Mobile site free..
Setup fee is $200 for each restaurant which involves setting up the SMS service.
      * setting up the actual page for each campaign
      * developing the txt promotion that will go out.. only doing 1 per week to 500 ppl once we reach that

Then the actual maintenance fee of $250 per mth for each restaurant is:

      * sending out the text messages and coming up with new ideas and campaigns to increase ROI and teaching his staff..

I am using Trumpia as Maria Guidelis recommends it and has been using it without a glitch for quite sometime and it services everywhere.

      I will be doing this..

Week 1 (now) - Set-up Mobile Website and submit it to search engines

Week 2 - Set-up text message system & A mobile landing page for their primary offer /What offers he is willing to do to build a list and start promoting.

Week 3 /4 - Explain how to build and capture the mobile list ( this will be done first week of January)

      * Add Mobile keywords/short codes to flyers, instore
      signs, marketing materials, site

      * Start texting out to his list, create a new campaign idea every two weeks.

Right now it's all trial and error for me as this is my first one..

Thank you Kim for all the info.
A bit of work for you now!

I'm checking with trumpia for my location.

I m not familiar with sms marketing and I understand you set up a landing page for each sms campaign. But how doest it work? You send the sms. Then what does the recipient do? Click on a link in the sms and then is redirected to the landing page?

This is completely new to me and I'm trying to see the whole picture...

The QR codes on marketing material will be for sign ups right?

How about printing them on receipts and pizza boxes for example? Is it something that's being done already?

    Thanks again for the info!

That makes alot of sense, so you set up an app, and have the custome dl it?

Resources for the app build ? !

I like this angle makes a lot of sense, but we also still hav SMS for polling / voting..

      Possible with the app ?

    Hi Lee,

This is the thread that I read and watched for sometime..http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...ne-script.html

Like I stated above I just read on this forum as much as I could to learn about the offline industry in regard to approaching clients.. I already have a background in seo and IM.. it was the approach technique that I was having issues with.

As far as SMS services, there are a ton of them on the internet that you can research. My method was contact potential leads on Linkedin, create them a free mock site to get their interest. and then make the sale while their excited.
