Newbie in Internet Marketing, want to make tools for Internet Marketing

Hi All,

I am a newbie in Internet Marketing. Not so newbie in the internet itself .

Just to put some context on my not_so_newbie definition. I had worked for a few years as software developer (C++, C, Java). I had also worked for a few years as an academic, lecturing at university, doing research mostly in artificial intelligence. Now, I have been working as financial analyst (quant) for a few years. I understand php, mysql, html quite well, but not ruby or python.

A friend of mine introduced me to internet marketing. It is an interesting field, I am keen to learn more about internet marketing while also developing one or two projects/tools which may be useful for internet marketing.

I am thinking to develop:
- automatic text summarisation based on natural language processing, not just cutting and pasting the first sentence/last sentence.

Any suggestions what would be a few most useful tools for internet marketing?

Thanks,
Andrew

Sounds like you have a tremendous set of skills, skills that seem to bring money in the IM business. Having said that, I saw your idea above... not a clue what purpose that would serve or what it would do for me as a marketer, or consumer?

I highly recommend spending some time at the "WSO" forum... see how those guys are making money there. There is A TON of junk being sold by people who sell plugins, scripts, etc which they actually outsource and they just don't quite cut it. If you have programming skills I bet you could create better versions of some of the products that are in high demand (key element in marketing) and do a good job. I have noticed that some of the high money makers, just a couple maybe, have a programming background and they release WSOs that make a nice payday.

In IM lingo, it is similar article spinner. However, it supposes to be smarter than just a spinner. It should be able to generate unique content by summarising from various sources. It should understand the meaning (semantic) of the texts rather than just replacing words with synonyms. So, it is an advanced version of spinner and it should also human readable (e.g. pass Turing test).

I will not invent new techniques etc. just collected from what other researchers in this area (Natural Language Processing) have done
for example (hxxp://dl.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=1073465). Then implement it to be able generating articles for IM.

I believe the main challenge is to ensure human readability and passing Turing test i.e. human will not notice the text is generated by a computer program.

IF this works, I am thinking to try it by generating 1,000 articles per days for 100 days in the most profitable niches then put them on a few powerful server to share the load. Not sure how G would response to this.

    Ugh. What jargon!

Figure out how to express what you're offering in NON-TECHNICAL terms that EASILY EXPLAIN to business owners how you bring them more sales.

      A little harsh..
just because you do not understand someone's language You don't need to call it "Ugh. What jargon!"

3 people found it useful. If you can't speak French, just don't join the conversation....

      Karen.
