free or low priced business cards

Anyone have any suggestions on this? I am looking to get some business cards to make myself appear a little more professional when presenting myself to potential offline clients.

Any input would be greatly appreciated

Outside of Do-It-Yourself printing, try looking at VistaPrint. An associate of mine had really good things to say about them. I on the other hand made my own until my printer stopped working. I used MS's Word program to do simple designs. I used card stock that i bought from Walmart cheap. I also print my own flyers and brochures. It takes time to get everything to meet your expectations but it can be done.

so much vista love in here, wow!

Vistaprint does awesome marketing and they have a ton of templates.

    But...

The cards are smaller than a regular business card, they are printed on very thin flimsy paper stock, the finish is terrible, the ink is terrible, and they all have the same "look" to them.

Im am constantly shocked by how many people suggest Vista, they are the absolute worst in terms of quality BUT perhaps the best in terms of marketing.

Not to mention their never ending screens of upsells and never ending promotional emails(spam) that you get once they have your info.

Let that be a lesson to everyone. Its less important to have the best of anything and more important that people see your name OVER AND OVER.

    Marketing Rocks.

Vista is kind of like the Walmart of McDonalds of printing. They do such a great job of branding their name that they are the first that you would think of when it comes to printing online. Just another great example of how important good brand recognition is to a company.

We use a few places, but recently from uprinting.com we got 1,000 full color two sided glossy biz cards for $25 or so for a client. We also use fastcolorprinter.com for brochures and magnets for another client. There is so much competition there are always specials going on and the prices are cheap. Vistaprint is more expensive than a lot of these places. And Vistaprint's quality is not as good.

Sadly, it's become so easy and cheap to use online printers that we don't use local printers.

Vista print, they give them away for free all the time. I actually only order things from vista print when they send free offers. Which is basically all the time. You just pay for shipping, which is low.

    Vistaprint is total garbage.

Their business cards are printed on low quality stock...they are thin and flimsy, and not anywhere near as glossy as MOST EVERY OTHER PRINTER OUT THERE.

People who love vistaprint simply havnt tried any other printer. I mean really...the comparison between VP and...anywhere else... isn't even close. Its a significant drop in quality.

Do yourself a favor and go to one of the other places suggested in this thread.

Oh..and you certainly don't want to be handing out Free biz cards...with the vistaprint logo on the back...that just lets everyone know one of two facts about you. 1. Your a noob... and dont have any money...therefore no experience...therefore not really the professional whatever you claim to be.

or 2. You are cheap and cut corners on things...and if you treat your own business image like second hand underwear, cuz your too cheap to buy haynes...what are you going to do with MY project?

When someone hands me a biz card with perforated edge, a vistaprint logo on the back, or flimsy inkjet stock with clipart....they have no chance of getting my time, regardless of claim they can do for me, for the simple fact that I can see clearly that they don't know what the ell they're doing.

    Just food for thought

Totally agree, cannot stress this enough

DO NOT get the free vista cards. They will make you look unprofessional.
I will also not do business with anyone (offering professional services) who uses a free vista or avery inkjet card or other flimsy type card.

If someone doesnt care enough about their own image to spend a few bucks on nice looking cards then how can I trust them to make me look good.

Ok, changed my mind again. Those two posts above me was the reason that i never did try vp. I would rather not waste even shipping charges if it is that bad.
