Good Idea? Bad Idea? Improvements...

Hey Guys

Thanks for taking the time to read my thread. I have recently 'took action' and so far this has gained me one client in about 40 calls :/. However, I setup this Wordpress blog with the SalesLead template:

Code:
qualityfreewebsites.com
My idea is to offer the website design free, aslong as they sign up through my HostGator affiliate link. If I can get a few sign ups a month I may reach my goals of $500/month online. The website design is easy as I will just use a CMS through Fantastico and add the content that they wish to be added on there. My plans however, are to upsell to the client. Once they are online, they will require services such as SEO and marketing to boost their business. I will only make $50 from the HostGator affiliate, and then whatever I can upsell to them to boost their business.

Ideas for promotion of website other than cold calling, improvements to site, or any constructive feedback are welcomed!

Thanks
Adam Downing

1 client in 40 calls is fine. Remember only 1 in 4 people are likely to be available and willing to talk to you. So your ratio is more like 1 in 10 conversations leading to a client. You gave up on calling too soon.

    As for your copy:

It's OK. Not great, but not bad.

    "first month's hosting"

"every day" is two words unless it's an everyday thing.

information "is" available (what information? Be specific)

I would reiterate "Free" in your black headline text on the left.

Overall, I would work on making your bullet points more "punchy."

I've not given up on calling! It's my main source at the minute. I've just given it a rest for christmas/new years, then i'm right back on it. And i'll get the grammar corrected and try and do the free in the logo, that's actually a great idea!

--You can post free ads on Craigslist promoting your Free websites.

--You could leverage eBay for more leads. Do some research on what people are buying related to your services and then put together a short training guide/video. List it on eBay, but promote your Free webdesign in your about section.

Just a few ideas for promoting.

--A few more things you could do to capture someone interested is give a way some free training in return for their email, so you could follow up with an autoresponder sequence offering your Free web design and other services.

--You could also put together mobile marketing campaign. Put the phone number or short code on your site. So, they would text for Free info on your training or Free web design and you would have your sms/text campaign setup to send out messages to them.

--You could also have a voicemail setup to followup with them.

--Use a QR code for them to scan(smart phone) to generate curiosity.

Ok, I've rambled enough! Hope this gives you some ideas or helps out!

The craigslist/gumtree and SMS marketing ideas are really good. Going to start really promoting after the new year . Do I NEED to register it as a business even though it's only going to be affiliate promotions, since the money earned will mostly come from HostGator, and anything else won't really be much I don't think as it will just be upsold services.

I like the idea of offering a free site. I'd create a full sales funnel that every single client goes through and refine it to the point where you average more than just a hostgator affiliate commission from the average client.

Giving away free sites is a great idea. Here's a way to turbocharge that idea...

There was an awesome WSO back in August that is closed now...
    http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...35-closed.html
but the idea was something like this...

    1) Record a voicemail blast that says, "I had some downtime, so I built a few websites for local plumbers that looked like they needed a site. You're one of them. If you'd like to see it, give me a quick call back so I can email you a link." I try to avoid lying whenever possible, so I had my wife record the message and say, "My husband had some downtime, so I ASKED HIM TO build a few..." Plus, her voice is much sweeter than mine.

    2) When they call back, let it go to voicemail where they can leave their name, business name, phone number, email, etc.

    3) Only after they show interest, do you build a quick mockup site and send the link.

Saves a ton of time building sites for people who aren't interested. Plus, the voicemail blast is another HUGE TIMESAVER versus cold calling. I use Callfire.com...i think it's about $0.02 per call.

Some of that may not have been in the WSO (my own tweaks), I'm not sure.

    I hope that's helpful.
