selling hosting...how to bill client?

I am currently using freshbook for all of my invoicing.

I am also starting to do web design with a hosting/basic maintenance plan of $35 per month.

I want to set up my clients' hosting and domain name for them with their information and then send them a bill each month for my fee.

I have looked into hostgator reseller, but I don't want to have 2 billing systems. I want to stick with freshbooks since it integrates with outright, which is good for tax purposes.

What are you guys doing for managing hosting accounts for your clients that you are billing for?

I could always set up a new hosting account for each client, pay the bill myself, then invoice them my monthly cost.

I just need a system for setting my clients up with a hosting account, and being able to use freshbooks as my invoicing system.

I want to do all of the work for the client, and just send them an invoice for my services.

Let me know what you think, or what you are currently doing if you are doing something similar to this.

Thanks
Jason

If you have a hosting reseller account, you'll be paying the host, then just send your clients a combined bill via Freshbooks ...

Unless I'm misreading what you are trying to do, the quoted post seems fine. You pay hostgater 25/month for your reseller account or whatever it costs you. Then you bill your client whatever you want, add it onto their monthly freshbooks recurring bill, no reason for it to be a 2nd invoice or even reference hostgator in any way.

I just signed up for hostgator reseller, and will manage all of my customers with that. I also see that it comes with a enom domain reseller account, which I have set up.

I want to buy domain names for my clients as well. I will pay for the domains, and want to register them under the client name, and not mine. They also will need access to their domain account. Do you recommend enom for that, or godaddy?

    Thanks

Okay. That is what I will do then. I will just use my reseller account, and make the invoice with freshbooks.

Later on, if I decide to sell hosting from my website, I may start using whmcs, but not right now.

What do you guys suggest as far as domain names go? I would like to get the domains for my clients, and just send them the bill. Do you recommend that I just set up a new account with godaddy each time with the new client, or is there a reseller domain provider where I can put each clients details in for the domain name, and pay for all of the domains in the same account?

I am checking to see if this is how enom works, and will also check if there is a godaddy solution to this.

    Thanks
    Jason

Just so everyone knows, this is what I have set up...

HostGator reseller - I will add account and bill through freshbooks for hosting and any upsells that I do.

eNom - using for buying domains for my clients, and setting registar info to their business info.

Looks like this will work just fine. Thanks for all of your help guys.

    Thanks
    Jason

Question; Why don't YOU keep the domains in YOUR name? If you're also providing a website to go with the Domain and....you'd like to continue getting paid....if a client decides they don't want your services and cancels....you are SOL.

Most people in this biz "Maintain Ownership" of the domain so that if the client bolts....you can sell it to someone else.

Don Alm....owner of quite a few domains

I want to put the registar in the business name so that if something legally happens to that business, it is on them, and not me. I will not be listed as the owner. Well, that is my thinking anyway. Let me know if it is wrong.

Also, the domains are in my enom account, and I can take control if I need to.

I am listed as the admin contact and tech contact, but the registar is the business info.

    What are you guys doing?

I am creating my system right now, and taking on some clients, so I need to hurry a bit and put those details in the contracts I send out regarding ownership of the domain name.
