Dear Warriors,

Just wanted to know your best way to search offline clients: you do it locally, through a website or a software? Any insight will be helpful.

Thanks & have a happy 2012!

God bless you Warriors!
Cheers
Ciel!

At first, I wanted to share you all the techniques I have been using to get offline clients (many of which were inspired by reading this very forum), but then I realized you asked for the "best" method.

The best method can also be the scariest (but only in the beginning, I swear!). You have to open your mouth! You have to tell people what you do. And by people, I mean your chiropractor, your florist, everyone you meet that could benefit from your service.

Its a fun thing to talk about, so keep it that way. My opener for a small business is "so, who does your website?". Then we just get going from there.

The first time I started telling people about my business was at a networking event, I literally had to force the words out of my mouth. And as a result, I got two consultations. So just talk to local business owners as you go about your day. And trust me, you know a lot of information about how to get them A LOT MORE CUSTOMERS FROM THE INTERNET. So, if they are open to chatting about it, then the words will flow out naturally.

Ok, one more thing. this can really help. Ask someone for their business card and then mention, "oh, so you do x, y and z? You know there are a lot of people online that are looking for your service. Hundreds per month. Want me to show you how to be the first company to show up when clients are looking for your service online?"

use text messaging. but this requires knowing their mobile phone numbers right? if your target market are business people, you should attend trade exhibits and get their business cards and text them promoting your business. well that is only an example since i do not know whom your target market is

    As Joe says above

    just open your mouth

all i do is walk around my local town and approach any small shop or business and talk to them about how they can get more customers by having an online presence

i find it easy to get offline customers this way, and don`t really like texting or emailing because your hit ratio is terrible

      Cold Calling..... period.
This is by far the best way (like it or not) to get new clients.
I get more clients this way than with any other method.

It not the best. It is almost the best.

The best way is to call people that have already purchased from you...
and expect a call from you.

Cold calling is awesome... but it is only second best.. IMHO of course

I agree. Cold calling is awesome! I've been doing it for a while now and have produced great results from doing it. Though I can say that it isn't the best as there is no best marketing method IMO. It's just a matter of what your preference is, how you build on that skill, who or what is your target market, and a bit of luck as well.

'Warm calls' are the best. Whenever the prospect has been exposed (and
hopefully intrigued) by your service offer, it is FAR easier to get them
and keep them on the phone.

I do this through direct mail and email (I like to attach the letter in my email)

Open your mouth and talk to your friends and relatives. The BEST way with the highest conversion is referral. If you can get a few people who know you to work with you and then refer others to you - and grow your business that way you'll spend less time selling and more time supplying services.

I bought an electric heater today from someone in my home school group. We got to talking about we did and have an appointment to sit down next week for a consultation.

I hate opening my mouth to talk about 'what I do' but I can do it for just about anything else. So, why not talk about what I know???

Head to all the business networking events in your local area regularly and talk to people. Also, have a look at what businesses are currently using adwords to generate leads and then approach them about doing seo/social etc.

I think the best way is calling people and also referral. You should talk to people you know and tell them to talk to people they know. Cold calling can also do but its not really the best.

Spread the word any way you can, see whats working for you.

Obviously you would convert more people with direct meetings etc.. but if the ROI from a PPC campaign is good, you should do that to for example.

Search on google, online directories and other place and compile a list that is targeted.

I found that if you send them a letter and then a week later an email and then a couple of days a phone call. At least you stand a that when you call the prospect will know who you are.

Networking gets it done. You are looking to build an Offline business, right? So don't be afraid to get out from behind the computer and meet people. You are going to be your best salesperson. There are tons of networking events going on all the time too.

It all comes down to how much do you want it?
