Google Places with a virtual location

How do you rank in Google places with a virtual location. For instance Kentucky Lake Dentists would include an area consisting of 5-6 small cities. Since these are small cities a person would be more likely to type the common virtual location into a search and not a city name. Will Google place create a map for a virtual location? Any suggestions?

    Like the "quad cities" or the "quint 'burbs" lol! I've noticed businesses in the burbs don't rank as well. You need to include your cities as well as the region.

    Try testing by changing your Google region to each one of the cities and search for just 'dentists' - does the results change?

    The google 7,3,1 maps are there by their control. Your efforts to somehow get your site to pull up a map on serps, is unlikely.
