Elance Marketing - Offering SEO, $500 - $3500 websites as a marketing strategy

Hi Fellow IMer's That Have Business Clients,

After getting some of my time back and thus getting back to the warrior forum where my offline business career began, Its great to see such a pool of people doing the same thing, and sharing experiences, questions, and solutions to our industry.

So as a marketing tact, we have gone down the elance marketing angle, to offer our SEO and low end & high end websites as an Australian company to generate a client pool, and thus upsell and cross sell all the elements a web business needs.

Since we are ankle deep in this process, I thought to see other peoples experience as a western IM company/person bidding on projects and competing with India, Russia and phillipines and thus how they are going?

    I will say a couple things on this subject, but right now let me tell you I don't use those sites for work. I tried a few times, but even bidding on the high end I think you still lose.

    There is a difference in quality clients on these websites. I think bidding on these projects you lose leverage. I have done my fair share of bidding on projects first starting out, and have done very well with it because I can stress quality and no communication issues that they would have with someone in india, bhangladesh or other related countries.

    The main thing here is you lose leverage. You're better off advertising in google IN your country or even in the US and have an 800 number forward internationally!

    That is just my opinion.

      good to know you had the same difficulty i felt in just a few weeks of doing this bidding. i will be adding in your mention about stressing the high quality and no communication issues as my main selling feature - so thank you very very very much for that bit of sales copy, that was my plan initially to provide that type of service/offering, but i forgot to state that in my template type posts ... whooopps!

      web design is $10 click in australia, way too rich for the profit margins on that puppy.

      so i have initiated an SEO campaign on the following keywords:

    I have found there is always a give and take. You may get a great price here but you have to spend more time training there. Or you can get excellent work here but you may get lag time in the process.

    I suppose the best mix of price and quick and easy to train will be the idea mix.

    i had figured that its not about the numbers of sales i get, its about hooking up with people, that supply regular work, so getting one client like that, will suffice.

    i have also just secured a BDM, with 4 years elance experience to bid on our companies behalf since i wrote this post. i hope this will be the tipping point.
