Got a lead from the local chamber and I'm not a member.

So last Friday I get a phone call from a woman at the local chamber of commerce inviting me to their next meeting....which I accepted. The woman said she'd also email me some chamber information....which she did.

I then went to their website and looked up the current membership just to see who my competition would be. Believe it or not, my company name and info was also listed. So the woman added me to their website and I'm not even a member yet.

So fast forward to today.

I get a phone call from a local business that does personal home care (taking care of the elderly) saying she got my information from the chamber website and wanted to know if I'm able to help her with re-building her website and doing some SEO work for her.

Holy crap. That was unexpected.

It looks like I'll definitely be joining our chamber now

    That's great!

I am attending a Chamber event tomorrow evening and have a free mobile site I am going to offer to the President. After looking at their member's list, I see no competition.

I hope the free mobile site will get my name passed around.

That's pretty Awesome 512 designs! I still need to get involved in my local chamber, but I have been extremely busy. I hear Chambers and BNI's are a great place to be to land some good local offline clients.

They all have their own business or are affiliate with a business, they are there to network and you know 95% need help getting more business in the door.

@ADukes81- I'm sure they will love it and refer you to many people!

Excellent, Mike! I have had a lot of fun attending Chamber meetings (usually just the first one for free to check them out) but I always end up meeting people and being able to have one-on-ones down the road.

Congratulations! I've had pretty good luck at Chamber events here locally in the past as well. You get to start building relationships in a non-threatening way over breakfast or lunch before you sell anything. Much better than cold calling.

I've even had a couple where the person I talked to didn't need my services but they passed my card on to a business associate who did.
