Best Way to Accept Payment?

I'm about to close a deal for an online reputation service.

Should I just go with Paypal or is there any better alternative?

Can someone please provide a URL for "Check" ? I'd like to look at their services.

      Thanks,

Paypal is going to be the simplest and quickest if you're in a rush. Most people understand it these days.

Then, in the future, you can set up something else - like the credit card swipe option above.

Just don't let it delay you in closing a deal!

Thank you for the tips. However, this would be all done online. The client is in another country, so I don't think something physical is the best option. Any other ideas?

I've had many bad experiences with Paypal. Maybe Google Checkout?

Paypal is the free electronic option
Check is the free physical option
Square is the paid credit card option(tip: charge the 2.75% to the client)

I use freshbooks to track and send out invoices.
I also heard wufoo was good too.

Check with your state and local laws before charging a client for processing fees. This is sometimes illegal and is almost always against the terms of service of your processor.

Discounts for cash or check are ok.

And most banks will charge you for processing checks so almost every payment has a fee of some kind.

IMO use whatever the client wants to pay with.

I prefer to use paypal for non-local clients because most of them are familiar with it already. You can create an invoice in paypal to bill them for the work or setup a subscription payment pretty easily for monthly recurring charges.

I closed an offline client yesterday and set him up PayPal recurring payments. I put the PayPal button on my site, he clicked on it and I got the first month's payment instantly. Now I don't have to worry about invoicing the customer each month. I tried invoicing in the past and customers would be very slow in responding back with payment so I put them on recurring payments or I don't deal with them.

I plan on using CannyBill for my paypal and credit card payments and recurring

Square and Check, I use if they are in person.

Anyone used 2checkout yet? I have been using paypal for most stuff but looking to integrate a shopping cart.

That square sounds great, think i'll have to check that one out as well.

I used 2checkout. I was very happy. But on 2011 they closed my account. And not only mine - but many many marketers accounts were closed.

Very similar - PayPal and then Square and Check when in person.
