backlinking newb

hello,

im a complete rookie. I have a site that has been getting about 200-300 visitors a day. Its a fantasy sports blog that I try to update about 2-3 times a week.

now ive been reading this site and i dont know if im just missing the picture or what have it. But from what I can tell backlinking seems to be 1 of the 4 things needed to generate more site traffic.

now i have fresh content updated, i have good keywords (i think), and i have a good niche. I go onto the espn.com forums and post on there about my site and I get people coming to the site from there.

my question: how would one backlink to a fantasy sports blog. is what im doing an example of backlinking? or should I be doing something help.

    Well if you just go to espn and link to your site it will likely get you banned.

    Being active on sports forums will work and putting the link in your sig will often be allowed. Also when the topic fits you could directly link. But make sure you are adding value to any forums you are posting on. The same goes for blog comments. The links themself have little value from an SEO standpoint. So you must be posting in a way that makes people who see the links click them to view your site.

    Also this is really not the right forum for this question.

    I don't want to be rude but this forum is about "OFFLINE" marketing. Yes, backlinking is a critical element to the success of your site, however, this isn't the forum to ask for it. I suggest you visit the Warriors For Hire forum where you will find many suggestions and offers where you can find the information you're looking for.

      Even though this is an offline area of WF, many of us know about SEO and are quite successful. Chances are, we're probably some of the most successful on this board who have legitimate businesses.

      For backlinking, it depends on your ultimate goal. Is your goal to generate more traffic or is the goal just to rank certain keywords higher?

      Social media can be a great thing for traffic generation. However, right now it isn't a major thing that is going to increase your rank. Create a facebook, twitter, and google +. Use all those outlets to promote your blog.

      Backlinking, you can either get backlinks that will help your traffic, or backlinks that will help your ranking. Ideally, you want those to be the same but many people link on irrelevant sites. Forum posting probably doesn't do much for backlinking, but it can do a bit for traffic generation.

      Find related blogs and maybe do some guest posting.. network within your niche. Maybe some press releases. There are so many options for SEO and traffic generation, just keep on reading and posting.

    You are just doing right, Your website are being recognize by search engine for there are too many visitors in your site. You can do more backlinks and submitting it to sports directory and these will be definitely great.
