Help: How To Find Outsourcing Help Prior To Landing Your 1st Client?

Hey Everybody,

I just wanted to see if anyone out there might have some valuable advice in terms of the next step that I should take in terms of getting my first client.

I went through the painstaking process of getting my website set up to my own personal expectations and it took nearly 2 months!

Now that I've made it through that part, I don't have any outsourcing people at all!

At first I had considered just going and finding some clients and then worrying about finding an outsource person after the fact. However that seems a bit risky and not my style. I want to be a little more prepared than that.

So my question is this...

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I should go about creating a relationship with an outsource person prior to finding my first client?

To all of you who are established and have clients, how did you go about finding your first outsourcing partners?

What should I say to them to get them to understand I don't have any clients yet but that we will be partners?

I would suggest start looking for clients aggressively while you look for someone to outsource to. Trust me, you will not be short of people who can do the work skillfully and within your budget. What you need more is a steady stream of clients. That is the hard part, not finding sub-contractors/outsourcers.

On the other hand, you can find plenty of people here on the Warrior Forum itself, at very short notice, if you need work done.

Besides, even if you do find someone to outsource to, and then make them wait a few weeks while you land clients, they might have moved on by then, and taken on other jobs.

Hey! Congrats on getting your site up and running!

Finding a stable outsourcer falls on the same concept as finding someone to be in a relationship with. You want your outsourcer(s) to be spouse material! (conceptually, of course! Lol) The best way to find someone is to put them to the test. (If you don't have any clients to work on, this is a good opportunity to get some work done for you, as well!) If you are looking to outsource web design, SEO, social media etc., find someone (I'd suggest elance, odesk, or even a fellow warrior as a good start!) who passes your 'eye test', and give them a spin. Set up a detailed project for them to do, following your orders and requirements. There is a stickied thread in the Adsense/PPC/SEO sub-forum, titled 'The Only Outsourcing Guide You'll Ever Need!' (I'd link you, but I can't due to my post count.) That will give you a clear idea on how to handle the communication and relationship. See how they respond. If you are immediately satisfied and blown away, then open the door and plant your feet! If you are by any chance skeptical, then rinse and repeat. People don't change, so I'd personally wait 'til the right person comes around, and their work is akin to your liking! This is a tight relationship, their work will be making your money! Trust your gut!

I wish you good luck on your future endeavor! Now, go get EM!

I would highly recommend using Odesk to find outsourcers for your projects. Just look in the section that you need someone such as; SEO, Web Design or Graphic Design and browse through the different people. I personally make sure that they have had a significant amount of prior work and read the reviews that others have left them. Once you find someone you are interested in working with then contact them. What I do is set up a private job for them and invite them to it, once they respond to my job posting we exchange skype ids and then communicate through there. The only thing I use Odesk for is finding the people, once I set everything up with them on Skype I pay them through PayPal. For me, it's easier that way.

As someone already said, you won't have a problem with finding outsourcers to work with, what you need to make sure you do is that you weed out the ones who aren't up to your "standards" and build a relationship with the ones that are, remember they are people too just trying to make an honest living like the rest of us.

    Hope that helps, good luck.

while long term relationships with outsourcers have their benefits you can always use sites like fiverr to get a few jobs done if you end up with jobs before you have a permanent outsource partner.
