How to get your foot through the door for offline clients

Hey guys new to the WF but just want to contribute a way that I go about getting my foot in the door for offline clients.

Quite simply I do cold walk ins, introduce myself as you do make a bit of small talk then ask politely if the shop in question has an online presence. Some say yes and some say no, for those that say yes you'll want to ask about SEO.
Enquire about keywords they'd look into, recommend them some for free and generally provide a lot of knowledge on the topic for getting their site ranked. 9 times out of 10 they'll be impressed as this'll be all new to them at which point you'll want to say that your looking for a little bit of work at the moment and would be willing to take the job on for a minimal fee of X per month or dependant on results and then charge a monthly retainer to maintain these rankings achieved.

For those owners who say they don't have a website you'll want to ask them why they haven't got an online presence.
Many will state the lack of knowledge in how to go about, some lack the time while others are scared of what it might mean for the business and.
For those with the lack of knowledge, once again you'll want to provide some free knowledge such as platforms like Wordpress, hosting, templates and so forth and then almost off-handedly mention you do website designer and in fact had a special offer going that week for say a 6 page site. Be sure to have on hand perhaps a notebook containing the features of such a site to show the owner if they enquire about it and as for a price that's up to you
For owners who lack the time this is an easy sell, simply say you can do it for X in X amount of time. One way I go about it is offering them a site for free, setup within a week and then add an additional say £100 p/m to maintain and update the site aswell as pay for hosting.
This is a win - win as the owner gets an online presence for free and you get passive income for doing pratically nothing
And finally for the owners who are scared of the web I would recommend telling them how more and more people are looking online prior to buying a good or service these days, they want reviews and information and if your not providing it your pratically throwing business away.

I hope this has given some people a bit of help
