New Shiny Object or Trusted Advisor

It amazes me the amount of new shiny things that are offered to offline marketers. I'll admit, I'm guilty of buying one too many of the bright, glowing, "magic button" products.

But as I go about my daily life, talking to people, and finding out where their problems lie, I realize that people want solutions to the same challenges that every business owner faces... How do I interest prospects to come in the door... how do I sell them.... how do I keep them... how do I make a profit?

As I talk to business owners, I look to where their biggest pain is and offer some transformational strategies that will make their businesses explode.

When the business owners see that I am looking after their interests, they come running to me... I never have to hard sell... I never have to "Ramp UP" a massive lead generation program.

When I want to work in a new local industry, I have some "Fun" ways to get people to call me... It is all a delightful game that pays me more than anything else I would rather do.... Sure, I experiment with this and that just to see what happens.... But, when you get right down to it... I'd rather have fun and get the clients I want than run after new shiny things.

Sounds like you've uncovered the secret that business can and often is fun. Speaking of fun, just what are some of your "FUN" ways?

Cold calling is not fun... I have eliminated it.

Mailing is not fun, unless you have a way to make people sit up and take notice.

Closing can be fun if you take all the pressure off.

Working with dozens of clients is not fun... I work with just a handful.

I assume this will continue until you offer a WSO...or should I say whatever "magic button " you plan to sell.....

Lately I've been thinking that the time spent on this particular forum is not returning the value it once did. It seems that more and more threads like this one are popping up. If you have something of value to say, than say it. If you have a question or an issue that you would like to address or get some feedback on, this is the place.

I see by your avatar that you've been thanked numerous times. Before you attemt to toss that in my face as to the value that you have brought, I'll agree that you most likely have. But this isn't a thread deserving of that so far. But I'll wait to see the rest of this marketing teaser. I assume you'll start going down the road of "you don't have to cold call"....that'll be a big hit.

      Have a nice day.

Ha! I can imagine you are thinking I have a shiny object.

I do not. However, the point I am making is that so many people are chasing one thing after another, when all they have to do is just stop and think what is best for a customer.

When I say I don't cold call... I don't. I go about my daily business and am friendly to people... because that is the way I am.

Do people talk with me? Yes, they do. Do they tell me their frustrations? Yes, they do.

If there is a business frustration and I can help them, I do. Does that get me clients? Yes. it does.

Is this the micro-explanation of what I do?

    Yes.

    Can you do it?

If you can be friendly and open your mouth you can do it.

The whole point to this thread is that almost everyone has the secret to more business, if they would get off their butts and talk to a few people.

    It's that simple.

If you make a point to do business with local businesses and just ask them "How's business?" That can open the door to many opportunites!

but you can't do that sitting on warrior forum 9 hours a day. Learn here and take it to the streets!!

A great point, bishop! I went out today and talked to a few business owners, not selling a thing... Then went to the local Chamber of Commerce with an idea... The chamber is going to promote one of my websites for me via Facebook.

Time spent out and about... about two hours....

    The payoff?

    Priceless!

Someone told me yesterday that a lot of offliners are like addicts... they just want the next new thing...

You got to do what has worked for the last two hundred years... make contact with folks... find out what is happening... offer solutions.

You don't run into a business and then jump to the owner asking, "How's business?" You go into a business with a purpose to buy something... or to look around... or to get information....

By this I mean, you go into a business that you have a specific reason to go into it... NOT TO SELL. You are going into a butcher shop because you need a roast... you go into a show store because you need shoes... you go into a bakery because you want a cookie.... you go into a game store because you want to talk strategy about Call of Duty.

In other words, you want to talk to the business owner about ANYTHING except the internet UNTIL you have built a good rapport... THEN you can ask, "How's business?"

    Simple.

Oh I see. At first I thought you were just another guy saying that you have to be friends first. But what you mean is I have to pretend I want to buy something, and than tell them I want to sell something.

Shewhew! For a second I thought I was going to have to let someone know I was a salesman! How would that look?
