Best place to find new businesses to offer web design?

I am just starting to get traction with offering a free mobile friendly website, and charging $39 a month to host it, to get my foot in the door, and then
working on upselling.

I want to also offer a free 5 page WP website for new businesses, with the same model, and charge $49-$79 a month if a business moves forward with the website and mobile site together.

My question is, where can I get my hands on frequently accessible "New Business Lists", and is there a tool which may be able to scrape Google Places with all Place Pages that don't have a website?

Or any other ideas on how to find targeted prospects with this strategy?

Thank you.

A lot of times this info is available from a simple Google search "business list + county name". Depending on the state and the county these lists can be free or sometimes they'll offer a paid service.

New businesses typically have a marketing budget and you can help them get their new biz off the ground. Getting a set up fee shouldn't be overlooked and 9 times out of 10, if you've built some rapport they will gladly agree to a reasonable set up fee.

    Patrick,

You can get as many as you want of new business start-ups
    at infofree.com.

    Their list is updated weekly.

For less than $50, they're all yours.

    Best,
    Ewen

Manta has a list of new business start-ups as well.

Not sure of the frequency of their updates though.

          Best,

For a free marketing method to build your client base use classified ads and Facebook marketing, you could also try a introduction video on Youtube targeting a business startup keyphrase

You might want to check out theeasyleadfinder.com I have a friend that uses this. I haven't implemented yet because I have been going on referrals lately.

Hope you find your solution. I think there's another scraper, if I think of it I'll let you know.

You should check out you local Chamber of Commerce. They usually give you a membership list as a perk to join.
They also have free meet-and-greet functions, newsletters, trade shows, etc.
Great place to do biz and use happy customers for referrals.

The above suggestions are great. There are start up lists or "new businesses lists on infofree, infousa, hoovers etc.

But remember you don't have to go after only new businesses. In fact I would suggest going after established businesses that don't have a website. The reason being you know they can afford that low monthly amount and then afford your prices when you upsell.

A new business may be able to afford the monthly fee but not your prices when you upsell.

As far as I know there are no ways to get lists of businesses without websites. But ALOT of your local small businesses do not have websites, you'd just have to call and see if they do or not and go from there.
