I know you can change ips or use a proxy. Just wondering if anyone knows if it's a permanent block or if it will expire.

When I used to run YellaBot a lot, I would get banned but it was not permanent.

Do you recall how long it lasts?

Google and Manta blocks are just a few hours but this is going on 5 days for Yellowpages

  Sounds like you have been hammers the site with a scraper. These sites are cracking down harder on software that does that. 5 days might be a permaban.

I was blocked by YP some months ago after using a scraper nearly 24/7... perhaps August or September. Around Christmas, I noticed that I could access the site again. So I'm guessing at least a few months.

I didn't know much about proxies when it happened, so I was pretty worried, thinking the cops were going to show up at my place

Anyway, I now use Hide My A$$ for just about everything.

I really wasn't doing that much scraping, maybe 1-2 hours total per day off and on throughout the day, but it was for several days 3-4 days in a row. I tried to be a good neighbor by not doing it excessively and not at high speed but I guess they are cracking down.

I got banned for about 3 days from using business leads miner scraper and had to email YP and ask why i am being banned from accessing their site. I was banned after using proxies also, so it makes me wonder if they can tell in some other way. Anyway i am just very careful now with accessing the UK Yellow pages and USA directory even with good tested proxies.

that's interesting. I was blocked for at least a month. I don't know how long it would have continued. I don't really use yp any more but I changed my IP so I can use them again if I wanted to. Yellow Book doesn't seem to have the same type of restrictions.
