Hey guys I just wanted to share an amazing article with you that I just got done reading at FastCompany.com.

The Future of Advertising

It's a great article on how us smart digital marketers have the old-school agency types shaking in their boots.

Here are a couple of my favorite quotes.

Thanks to the Internet and digital technology, agencies are finding that the realization of their clients' ultimate fantasy -- the ability to customize a specific message to a specific person at a specific moment -- is within their grasp.

    That ability has been available for quite some time to old sckool direct marketers.

    An example would be being able to get lists of home foreclosures,
    newly wed, newly divorced males and females, mothers of new babies.

    Sellers of products and services that match those people,
    can post an offer to each one of those groups.

    Have been able to for many years.

    Brand advertising agencies aren't structured to get payments
    from the postal service, so they don't use them.

    TV and radio networks pay kick-backs to the ad agencies,
    so they use them to broadcast non targeted messages.

      In New York and I'm sure other cities, Verizon Fios has the ability to focus local tv advertising down to neighborhoods and streets. Other cable companies are working on similar technology for the local market.
