Anyone have experience with Tree Service companies?

I've been talking with a guy locally that owns a tree service, and he is getting hosed by Yellow Pages. Its like $6000 per year for them to do nothing.

Does anyone have any experience or success marketing a tree service company? Can be anything, direct mail, adwords, etc. If so, I would be interested to hear.

yep, helped a friend with some flyers and he went door to door and put them on doors.

The flyer was in the same vein I follow for squeeze pages:

    Attention grabbing headline

Then their issues they may have and don't even know about and the damage that can be done if they don't trim their trees and then the solutions a trim trimmer provides.

At the end, a call to action to call his cell phone (and yes, we mentioned it was his cell phone) and be sure to leave a message and he will get back to you with a

FREE evaluation of what he can do for you.

Call to action was a different color than the rest.

Then a sub note that he would be back around to follow up in a few days

and another call to action if they needed help sooner.

Closed with a startling What can happen if you don't get this looked at.

He was so busy that he couldn't keep up after only going through one neighborhood.

Also, advice him to pick a middle middle class or an upper middle class neighborhood.

My soon-to-be brother-in-law owns his own tree service and I just made a website for them. I would love a copy of that flyer as well if you don't mind. PM if you want.

1 of my clients is a tree removal business. He was getting hosed by yodle. YP even approached him and said "look we got your competitor at the #1 spot, want us to do SEO for you to?" ...

Anyways, I do his SEO work, and he couldn't be a better client... "he has trees on his mind" , just lets me do my job, he gets leads/calls from Google now that is all that he cares about, and in the first 30 days landed a 10K tree removal job, and couldn't be happier.

He was already doing flyer marketing , door 2 door type stuff, I suggested to him to ask some of the golf courses around the area if he could leave flyers there, as he said his target market is older people, with money, nice big yards, etc.

This is a HUGE money making business. A guy that owns one here bought my pickup cash on the spot because he needed it NOW due to loads of work. He would cut the trees and then sell firewood. He seemed to be more focused on selling the firewood by making a sort of bandit sign out of cheap OSB board and spraypaint. Said "Firewood Delivered - Call 555-5555 Now!" They were all over town. Dont know how he got the clients for the tree service as I never see ads of his so I assume off yellow pages. Maybe also an ad in the local business rag.

As someone else said, look at the problem people have differently. Look at the image below. It is for a container homeowners can rent to keep A BUNCH of garbage in. They advertise it in city magazines and now in the recycle calendar put out by the city (even though they are private). Maybe your place can go along that same path. Think of a creative ad and let the city advertise it for him. I'm sure they get calls all the time and cant handle certain trees due to bylaws.

I have no agenda but to help those in the same situation. This I feel will pay the bills.

That's funny! I thought when you said typo it had to do with Canadian spelling but wow. Typical of that newspaper tho.
