Google places listing and organic listing

I am starting to learn google places. I have one basic question.

Are you able to have double listing like let's say A position in google places and another one let's say rank 2 on organic listing? So...on google page 1, you have 1 organic listing and 1 google place listing.

Is this possible?

Yes this is definitely possible. Having a high organic ranking will also help your places listing.

    It's best to double tap

ABSOLUTELY! If you have a relevant and well optimized Place page & Website, you will have both on page one.

You used to... However, due to the recent changes, I have seen some that had the A spot, get the top organic spot, and no spot on the map.
I would wait until Feb. 1, tomorrow, to know for sure. Google is supposed to make some more changes tomorrow.

I've been looking to the answer for this for awhile. I think they may have changed this. I have a site that ranks very well in organic listings outside of the city of the Places Listing.

Now in the city of the places listing, there is absolutely no organic listing at all for when the Places Listing comes up (which is for the search mapped to that location).

However if I set the Google Location to USA the site is always 1-3 in rankings and all the other locations I put in also it shows up on first page.

So it looks like Google is removing organic listings for those who have Places Listings. This site always comes up as Marker A in Places too so that may have something to do with it as well.

I would like to second that... I had a client that had his main website on page 1... #4 or 5. I've since got his Places listing the A-slot and his website just vanished. Poof.

So it does seem like Google is trying to reduce the likelihood of one business taking multiple spots.

However, I've built this client a new website, not attached to his Places listing and that is on page 1. So I got my 2 spots anyway
