Quick Google Maps Question

Hi guys

I recently got a couple of very harmful reviews about my business (I can only presume its a comptitor trying to screw me over!!!) on three sites. Namely google places, freeindex and qype. << all UK based.

I have filled in a form via google to hopfully consider removing the review.
But the other two (freeindex and qype) I am able to terminate these two accounts and start a fresh.

My question is, if i terminate these two accounts and re-create them, will it effect my google places placement? At the moment I am 1st for my business keywords as I show up in the Google Map between no1 and no3.

I am worried that removing these two very important citations might do my serp postion harm.

Am I right in thinking this?

many thanks in advance.

It may affect your rankings, yes. The best thing to do is cover these bad reviews with good ones (legit - don't cheat!) rather than trying to get rid of them. There's more chance of me winning the Euromillions jackpot than Google taking down the bad reviews.

I saw a story about someone leaving a completely false review making some EXTREME allegations (obviously fake) against an IT technician and Google refused to take them down. They only took them down when he filed a lawsuit against them.

Unfortunately neither of us have enough of a post count to PM so I'm not sure how we can communicate privately about this.

      Hi Dirtmaster,

Sorry to hear that you are having problems from an unscrupulous competitor. If you have some good testimonials on file, then head over to Fiverr and input 'Google Reviews' and you will find someone there that will post your reviews - 10 reviews for $5. However, as stated above, it is best not to use bogus reviews. Drip feed the reviews so they look natural.

Of course, there is nothing to stop your competitor doing the same again.

      Hope that helps you

Reviews should be made by true people not just because you paid them to review your business.
