Google Sites Bug - Duplicate Site Listings - With Rsp from Google

Recently noticed on some Google Places accounts I work with for local businesses that parts of their Places content was missing. Mystified, I went to Maps and entered their business name. Sure enough, I got directions from A to B, same business, 0 Miles.

I've had duplicates before, but normally just flagging them has worked in about a week or two. However, these have not been clearing up at all, even after two months. And folks were getting pissed that their coupons, descriptions, etc were not showing up.

An example is here (note, obviously once its fixed it will change, so if you are reading this after 30 March you'll just have to take my word for it):

Note these are not typical 'duplicates' - changing a photo or updating a review (on sites with reviews) occur in both places.

Here is what Google says:

Thank you for letting us know about incorrect information showing on
Google Maps. With your guidance, we've made changes to our data and the
updated information should be visible on Google Maps within 4-6 weeks.

We are currently experiencing a technical issue causing duplicate Place
pages to appear once certain edits are made . . . [including] descriptions and offers.

One our system updates, the duplicate page should no longer appear. Most
likely, this will be in about 4-6 weeks.

I apologize for the inconvenience and please let me know if you have
additional questions.
So, if you have a duplicate content or missing content issue on Google Places, be advised it could take awhile to fix.

A PS - just discovered video uploads are not being cloned now - perhaps changes will be quicker in coming?

Latest update RE: Google Places - they rsp they know all the content has dropped from one - either blank or partial pages coming up in local search. This is NOT a duplicate content problem fixable by the duplicate content form.

Latest Update 11 Feb 12 - even though both listings still exist - the correct, editable one is now showing up in search results.

I have a client who had 3 GP listings due to having 2 previous addresses. We claimed the old 2 and have them delisted.

We optimized the current address and got his GP listing to page 1 all the way up to the "C" position. Then a couple weeks later, his images disappeared, and then his reviews moved to an old delisted GP listing somehow.

Now there aren't even any GP listings showing up at all for this geo-targeted keyphrase.

Bottom line is Google seems to be experiencing some weird glitches ... let's hope they get squared away soon.

Definitely noticed lots of glitches in GP while doing some keyword research. You would think google would be on top of this.

We had two or three client GP pages disappear overnight, though the backend was still there under the account. Following advice, we made a couple of minor edits and clicked submit. Nothing appeared to happen immediately, so we also reported them to Google and got emails back for each today saying it was as a result of a glitch on their end and gave the same advice as we followed last night. They are back in their rightful first place positions today.
