Quick question about hosting client sites and invoices

I'm in the process of contacting businesses to build a site (upsell with other services later) and I have some quick questions.

For hosting the site, should I put them on my own hosting account or set up an entirely new account and put it there (like hostgator's baby plan).

Second, I want to charge 50% upfront and the rest later when the website is completed. Do I need to send an invoice for the first 50%? (fyi, I'll be using freshbooks.com) And how do I make a receipt to give them?

i let the clients handle their own hosting and domain account of course with my help.
but i keep the transparency about these so they gets the login details etc.
and if possible buy these things while they are next to you and show them how much they charged. also these help building a trust.
i do these way. and i will not bother with my own hosting.
so i hook them up with hostgator and get commission per client.

for invoicing i use software called Tally ERP 9 but
don't waste your time to learn tally if you don't know.
so freshbooks.com works well for others heard many times.
    for Invoice and payments.

i never asked for upfront once since they buy hosting and domain
thats all i need to get started with their project. also again these shows them
that you don't care for profits/money part of building a trust.

A shared server can work at first. I think you would be better off with one of their reseller accounts, so you can create their own cpanel and everything.

If you use freshbooks, just send an invoice for 50%, email them a basic receipt... then when you're finished, give them a final receipt. Do you have microsoft office? Just open an invoice template and customize it to fit your needs.

Ok that makes sense. I was just thinking of maintenance with updating the site but I could always just access their cpanel.

When you say e-mail them a basic receipt, I'm assuming that means I don't need anything crazy. Something like this (googled it really quickly) is fine?
