What orange means to you

Many of the buy now buttons are in the color orange. Paypal for year used the color orange as their buy now buttons.

The Cheskin firm has found that when you use the color orange in your prices people view you as more affordable.

Respectfully,
Chris Brown

Convicted scam artists wearing orange jumpsuits and breaking out of prison to scam some more.

    And sometimes ginger people...

I think red increases conversions... blue makes them view you as more of an authority. I think orange gives people a sense of worry and anxiety. I wouldn't be surprised if that were true though, there are a lot of different thoughts on colors in marketing.

I think of Orange and I think of energy. This may be because I picture either vitamin C, or the nickelodeon logo from back in the day!

Very true, all of us as successful marketer know we need to test before we do anything. I only start the research I have found.

Check out Louis Cheskins "Why People Buy"

      Which states:
If you use the color blue this increase sales 11-15%
With orange people feel you are more affordable
Using a crest as you company logo build trust

It just happens to be my favorite color and without realizing it, when designing one of my own sites, I tend to choose colors from the orange pallette every time ...

On other sites I have noticed the orange usually stands out because it isn't an otherwise commonly used color.

    • I just did a sales script and highlighted tone, how to say it, etc.., with colors of the words and sentences.

from searching online, I found these (below) were consistent (but not much real research on "color wavelength to brain state" influence):

Orange - Physical Security & Comfort
Red- physical courage, taking risks, stimulation
      blue- calming
      black - authority,power, strength
      purple - respect
      pink - love
green - peace of mind, balance
      yellow -happiness

may the colors be with you

I would think orange conveys caution and/or warning.
          That's how it's primarily used....
I'm a sign maker though.....I probably notice that use more.

Ironically "old blue eyes" didn't wear brown suits I think.

              IBM - the Big Blue

you walk into a clothing store. who has more credibility.
A salesmen in a brown suit ...or a blue or black one????

              could be how much to.

blue is to be calm, but too much and you can get depressed.

it is important but not crucial to consider since were all here
focused on the "color of money".

And were these actual buyers or focus group types?

They were buying a product, or a service?

    A product, or a brand?

    At what price point?

Yeah, I gues I'll go EXCLUSIVELY with orange.

Orange = colour of my favourite soccer team, The Netherlands
GfK - Europe's No. 1 market research company uses orange GfK Group

This is what I found on wikipedia about the colour orange:
    1) Web colour orange, defined as FFA500, is the only named colour defined in CSS that is not also defined in HTML 4.01.
    2) The complementary colour of orange is blue.
    3) In the United States and Canada, orange regalia is associated with the field of engineering.
    4) Orange can also be associated with colleges.
    5) In the sport of baseball some foul poles are orange, but only one in Major League Baseball, belonging to the New York Mets at their home ballpark Citi Field (and previously, Shea Stadium). 6) Orange is a team colour for a number of professional sports teams.
    7) The saffron stripe in the flag of India signifies courage, sacrifice and the spirit of renunciation.
    8) Orange is the national colour of the Netherlands
    etc.

This thread makes me curious and makes me want to test the difference. I'll test using the same product and the same sales page with different buy now button color. After quite some time, I'll count the average earning of each buy now button color. Wish me luck!
